I walk alot when I play alone I have a big tour style bag and I use a pull cart. ? For the walkers is it better to use pull cart or carrying bag that have the shoulder straps. The bag I use at this point is too heavy to carry. I like to walk but some courses have too many hills to pull a cart.

I have 2 bags. I will walk on weekends if I play. Week days after walking 8 to 10 miles at work I'm ready to ride.

I got a stand bag when I bought my clubs ... but I found that when I put it in my pull cart, it kept twisting due to the leg stands. I purchased a standard cart bag and I'm much happier. I walk unless the course requires carts.

I walk when I play alone or when I can. You always have your clubs with you and you save money. Problem is some of the guys I play with insist on riding.

I have a ping hoofer stand bag. Pretty light weight and comfortable to carry.

I walk and carried my own bag until I hurt my right shoulder 4 years ago.
Save your staff bag for carts and get a SunMountain 3.5, you'll love it.

If I have a choice ( give me 20 years back ), I'd like to use a stand bag, because you could carry the bag across the greens, you'll ended up walking a lot less and feel better on a hilly terrain.

I'm a walker without doubt. I have a pull cart that I use with the bag that is currently I play. I only ride when I have to. We have a magazine here in Dallas that gives at least 15 free rounds, save the cart fee, if you subscribe. So, that is the only time I ride.

I'm a walker for 2 reasons. 1. I think it's more in the spirit of the game. 2. I don't have a driver's license. I like to carry my bag more because it makes you stronger and you're less likely to lose your bag.

Good for you, this way will build up your muscles, make sure you get the lightest bag you could.
I carried my own bag until I passed 51, now I'm a "pusher", cart that is.

I have owned both push and pull carts. Push carts are the way to go hands down. I have never walked a round carrying a bag though, I guess I should try it before I get too old. I realy enjoy walking but most times the guys I play with will ride and I feel like I'm holding them up. Always walk when I am by myself though!

I'm a "pull-cart" walker as well. I find that with the shoulder bags the strap tends to ruin a lot of golf shirts, especially if you carry your bag on the same shoulder all the time. The pull-cart saves me from the dreaded "dirty shoulder" that a carry bag eventually will give you.

If you are going with a heavier cart style bag, definitely go with a hand cart. I carry my bag, double shoulder straps with retracting stand legs. I try not to carry any extra weight, ie. leave the street shoes in the car, and last time I weighed my bag it was under 25 lbs. fully loaded.

A buddy I play with has a push cart with those big bouncy tires, it's a snap to push around with two fingers. I've also seen guys with the electric carts with the remote control, don't know how much those things cost but they look cool as stink!

I prefer to walk whenever possible, the layout of the course has a lot to do with it. Some courses are better suited than others. I don't mind riding, but I enjoy the round more when I walk.

I love to walk when I have the option and as long as I'm healthy. I really have no idea why someone would want to actually carry their clubs on their shoulder?? If I want exercise I'll go to the gym. I'd think by the 15th to 18th hole even carring a 25 lb bag would give you some muscle fatigue even if you're in great shape.

I have a big cart bag with everything but the kitchen sink in it and one of those push carts you can push with one hand and love it. My back feels great at the end of a round.

As it happens, I don't go to a gym. Carrying my clubs for 18, or sometimes 36 holes, is a pretty good fitness test. Yes, if you are not used to it or in poor shape, around about the 14th or 15th hole your lower body just quits on you. It's almost impossible to hit crisp shots when this happens.

I do try to keep in walking shape by using stairs at work when ever possible. I work in a 12 story building, so I have plenty of chances to get some leg work in. Once the weather gets a little nicer, I want to get back to walking outside on a regular basis. I pop on the I-pod head phones and cover about 8 miles in just under 2 hours.

I can't understand why anyone would actually pay to go to a gym when you can get a good cardio workout either free or while doing something I enjoy anyway. I am turning 55 this year, so far the dragon has not caught up to me. I'd like to keep it that way for quite awhile to come. This is my way of staying healthy. It's not the only way, I realize, but it works for me.
