I've been looking into getting a rangefinder. Looking into the Bushnell V2 or the Nikon LR550. Does anyone own either one or have a preference?

I have a few friends that have the V2. They all love it and I really liked it the few times that I have used it.

I have a v2 Patriot Pack. The unit has been great and very functional.
If I had to do it again, I would without hesitation....

I have the Callaway LR550. I haven't tried the V2 so I can't compare the two, but the Callaway seems to get the job done. When I am riding in a cart with a GPS to the pin, the yardages are always within 1 or 2 yards of each other. The only beef I have is that when you're more than a couple hundred yards away, it can be hard to hit the pin with the laser. Despite that, it's still been a great purchase. I've played a couple courses recently without GPS on the carts and also a walking course. In all those instances, the rangefinder was a huge help.

Oh, one other nice advantage is when you're playing a course that doesn't have GPS to the carts for the group in front of you, you can still shoot the back of their carts and know if it's safe to hit. (Be careful not to shoot the laser at the golfers themselves.)

Skycaddie SGX. The others work great and are perfect yardage to pin, however they don't give you distances to bunkers, lakes, etc.. Its nice to have those distances for lay ups, tight pins to a bunker, or pulling driver or 3w off tee knowing front and back of a bunker. If I really had my way I wouldn't use one at all, but alot of these courses anymore don't have sprinklers marked with yardages. Longer round when this occurs.

Either way they do speed up play and for me I like that idea.

Rock Bottom Golf has an amazing deal on a Bushnell Golf Yardage Pro GPS, good through Valentine's Day. $39.99 (reg. $249.99). I don't know anything about them, but that must be a clearance price. Has anyone used one?

I haven't but for 39.00 thats like a round of golf, cart, some range balls and a burger. 249 value, its worth the try. I use the Bushnell Laser, however I have suggested to my wife I would like a Garmin watch in white for Christmas. 10 months to go

Just did some research on the Bushnell Yardage Pro Gps..... Basically Avoid this device. A 3.2/10 Terrible Feed back from users. Man, 39 bucks is a good price.

I have the Leupold GX1. I did a TON of research before purchasing it...It received amazing reviews from both users and professionals. I've used it now for almost a year and I wouldn't have changed anything. I always play with it.

It is fairly pricey, but it's results are spot on and it is super easy to use.

I think it's a P.O.S. but let me check around. In fact, it might be the free one I got at a scramble, and I'd say it's almost not worth $39.99. It only hits the flag inside 130 consistently.

But I'll double check today ...

All of the Bushnell lasers I have tried are quite good. I have used one for 3 years now and love it. It is quick and accurate.

Bushnell has been making laser range finders for years that have served hunters well. They know how to do it.

Thanks everyone for the input. Im pretty sure I'm going to go with a Busnell. The only question is which one.

Almost every review about the V2 has been very positive and is hugely popular. There are a couple of questions I got on the V2 -- battery life and distance. A friend of mine has one and the battery died on him after a few rounds. Distance...seems to work pretty good up to 200yds. Any comments?

I've al got my eye on the 1600 TE bundle pack. All the reviews are very positive about this range finder is capable of reaching up to 450yds. Not that any one hits it that far. But I definately woudl like a range finder that can get up to at least 300yds. Only draw back is size (which I don't really mind) and the battery door (which is a concern.) Anyone know know about the 1600 TE.

My V2 battery lasts for months, buy a good one, no chinese knock offs, ever ready lasts. lots of use, it also works well much past 200 yards, 300 is not a problem, i dont have much use for 300 yard read outs though.

I have the v2 and here are my thoughts....

1) Battery Life is great. Don't buy cheap batteries and you will not have issues.
2) V2 will shoot a flag 300+ yds depending on flag. If it is reflective, it can hit 1000 yds.
3) Either way you can't go wrong....
