What are the differences between the Burner 1.0 and the Burner 2.0? Real and/or perceived. I am trying to narrow my club selections for my new set.

The 2.0 short irons are smaller and have a little less offset. They have a different cosmetic appearance. Some people think they perform significantly different (both pluses and minuses) others think the performance is very similar.

The biggest difference right now is $300. The 1.0 sets are pretty deeply discounted right now.

I think that the 2.0s are a bit stronger too. That is why they claimed that their 6i was longer hitting than any other brand. It was actually a 5i with the 6i stamped on it.

That was true with the 1.0 version too. But good observation.

I just left Golfsmith hitting both and you can look at the two and see that the 2.0 has a stronger loft than the 1.0.

I'm about quality for money. New clubs are so overpriced, I usually dont even look at them but look at last year's models instead. With the Burner Irons, if I know I need to hit my 5 iron to achieve the yardage on the course I want/need, who cares whether it's really a 6 iron in some other brand's set? I mean seriously, is it something macho, "Yeah I hit a 6 iron into that green and you needed a 5"? Silly.

Hit both sets in the store and go with the set that feels good for you and your swing right now.

For what it's worth, the Taylormade published specs for loft on the 1.0 and 2.0 Burners are identical 3i-LW.

I have actually spend about an hour hitting each one and I can tell you there is a differance. I found the 1.0 8-pw a little easier to hit then the 2.0. To me the 1.0s were a little lighter and made it easier for me to hit the ball then the ground.

I would find a place that will allow you to hit both sets of clubs and do as much comparrison as you can. For me there is a golf shop that allows you to take 3 clubs out on the range at a time from the pro shop and they have almost everything. I actually compared the 1.0s, 2.0s, burner plus, and the callaway diable edge. When it was all over with the callaways beat the taylormades out hands down in both ball flight and playability.

The lofts are all the same, but the lie angle and offsets are slightly different on the longer irons.
