I was on a golf club component site and saw the 68° wedge head. I just had to get it to see what it was like to hit a wedge with that much loft. It has 0° of bounce and lays almost flat at address. It's like laying back a 60° but the club face is not open. As long as I was being ridiculous I decided on getting the Apollo Red Steel shaft for it. I am actually very happy with this choice, not only does the shaft look different the finish is awesome. The shaft also feels really nice and is pretty dang accurate, bonus! To top off the ensemble I added a white velvet style grip. It really is a fun club to hit and puts a ton of backspin on the ball, you can even see it start to drift backwards in the air. I'd say on a full swing it goes maybe 40 yards, but it goes high. I also could hit some short dart like flop shots that had almost no roll out from within 20 yards.

Total cost around $25.
Head:$8.95
Shaft:$5.10
Grip:$1.59
Ferrule$0.18
Shipping:$7.95
Epoxy(which I already had) maybe $0.50 worth
It really doesn't have to be expensive to experiment with different clubs. I also like to put them together.

That's funny. Every once in a while the wife and I head over to some local flea markets jsut to see what's out there for cheap. A few months back I saw a 68* wedge for $5 so I bought just to mess around with.

It's crazy looking at address and you can easily pop the ball straight in the air without opening the club up at all. I think I can hit it around 40-50 yards so it's something we knock around in the backyard with just to have fun.

It is crazy to think they would even make a 68* club to me. Still fun though.

I pretty much just mess around with it in the backyard too, it's fun to see how high you can hit it without making it go more than 10 yards.

Yup, pretty much what we do with it as well. Hit it over small trees & bushes too. It's a fun club to screw around with for sure.
