I took a client out to play golf last week.

He is not a golfer, doesn't pretend to be a golfer, etc...

So, he tells us two golf stories.

#1. He was invited to a better ball golf outing, everyone was hitting their second shot from the fairway. He walks up places his ball on a tee and hits his shot. The others were not paying attention to him until he hit the ball. They asked why he hit from a tee. He said, "You all hit from a tee and one of you forgot to pick it up after your shot." One of the other golfers looked at him and said that was just a marker of where we were supposed to hit our shots.

#2. Before playing a round, he needed a new golf glove. He drives to the golf store (25 minutes each way) and purchases a glove and drives home. He tries on the glove at home and the snap doesn't work, half of it is missing. He drives back to the golf store and there is an attractive female behind the counter. He goes up and shows her the defective golf glove as he tries it on and snap it shut. He says the other half of the snap on the other side of the glove is missing. She tilts her head with that curious/befuddled look you get from your dog as he hands her the glove. She proceeds to show him that it is not a snap, it is a ball marker holder. He takes the glove out of her hand and walks out with his head down not saying a word.

Are these true stories?

I once played a round with a kid who wasn't that good of a golfer. On the first hole he missed a three footer and says, "man I have never missed a putt that short." I asked him if he was new to the game. He said no that he had been playing for years and plays a lot of rounds.

So I informed him that not only have I missed many 3 footers, but I have actually missed a putt that was 4-5" away from the cup. (I went to lean in to tap it in and I lost my balance it barely moved it an inch). Worse yet...it was a tournament.

So he sticks to his story and the next hole he missed a 2 footer and then another 2 footer a couple of holes later.

On the last hole he missed a putt that was close to 10 inches.

In the nicest way possible I replied, "just remember the shortest putt you have ever missed is now this (holding up my hands showing roughing 10 inches).
