Looking for some opinions (keep your smart ass comments to yourself please). I have been planning to travel to Scotland for a week or two and play a few of the Open courses and hopefully St. Andrews. I am financially good to go when ready.

I just got rid of my Vette projects and have been looking around for another more finished, running project. I have my eyes on either 67 or 68 Firebird or late 70's or early 80's Toyota FJ40. I have loved these two vehicles since I was a teenager.

Now that I have some cash burning my pockets, do I take the golf vacation or take the money for the vacation and add it to my project fund to buy a more finished car project?

My recommendation would be to take the trip and get an FJ40. I have wanted one for myself for about 5 or 6 years. Too bad for me that one restored and ready to go is anywhere from 20k up to 95k.

All I can say is that my trip to Scotland was the best one I've ever been on.

Trip to Scotland. I did it 15 years ago and want to go back someday. If you need help with it, let me know. I have a friend that organizes golf trips to the UK as well as many other destinations overseas and here. His website is www.britanniagolf.com and I'm sure he can help you out with pricing. He also has standing tee times with St. Andrews so you're guaranteed to play booking through him.

I made the trip with my dad for his 65th birthday and we did it up...

Played:
St Andrews Old Course
St Andrews New Course
North Berwick (awesome course not an Open Course)
Musselburgh (coolest quirky course that's hosted an Open)
Prestwick - hosted the first 13 Opens
Muirfield - awesome nuff said
Carnoustie - thought it was just ok, maybe better than ok

When I go back I will play all of the above but drop out Carnoustie and add another round at Musseburgh and a round at Machrihanish which is said to be designed by the hands of God.

Scotland Trip! Memories that will last a lifetime. I'm doing it myself next year. Cant wait. Currently waiting to see if we get selected via old course advanced ballot now.

Edit: If you plan to play the old course, advanced ballot is open now thru sep 4 or something in that neighborhood.

To me, good health should never be taken for granted. So I say take the trip if you are healthy.

Car already purchased. But may still be able to go next year.
