Ok, I love my SLDR 5W with an x stiff shaft.

I can hit it straight or a fade pretty much on command.

What I cannot understand is how I can hit ball after ball straight with it and then switch to a driver (I've tried 3 different ones) and hit a big ole slice.

I set up the same.
I keep the same tempo.
I finish the same.

5W is less than 2" shorter than the drivers.

Any thoughts guys?

Yeah. You're a dumbass! Dump the driver you have and get fitted for one that you can hit straight and long with this so called same swing that you claim you have! OBVIOUSLY, your present driver is not matching up to the rest of the clubs in your bag. Just pony up some coin and get fitted for a new driver. and focus on the SHAFT! NOT THE BRAND!
I spent $90. bucks a year ago on getting fitted. I told the pro that I swing my driver hard and I wanted a club that I could hit straight swinging it hard. I got fitted and I can now hit it long and straight, and I think I can match distances with most anyone. Well, anyone except Jay. And I'm 60 frigging years old! But he can vouch for my distance and accuracy. Just pony up and get fitted. You'll be happy.
LOL.
BTW, when I got fitted, I used the same club head, and tried 4 different shafts. One was longer but wilder. One was a duck hook every swing. The one I eventually chose was perfect. It really is all about the shaft. If you want a really good driver, try mine. The Callaway XR Pro. A bit smaller head than the 460cc. But they give you choice of 4 different shafts at no up-charge. I hit the speeder 565 longer, but was all over the place. So I settled for the speeder 665. Both were stiff shafts. I absolutely love this shaft.

Ditto. Now about ponying up the coin, that's another story. He owes me $80 ;)

I just ordered the matching 3W from 2nd swing. Was that a hasty decesion?

And today I topped all but one shot with the 5W but smoked the driver. I'm more confused than those uncertain about which bathroom to use.

Your post and the subsequent comments had me leaning toward getting "fit" for a new driver. On a whim, my buddy today had the TMAG adjuster tool in his bag so before my round, I figured - meh.. couldn't hurt. Turned it from 10° to 12.5° (I think - it just says 'higher' but it's 3 clicks) and put almost every shot with the driver long and in the fairway. Dustin asked where that was during the previous two rounds.

I either figured something out, or my brain thinks I did, but I'm not telling my brain it was just a fluke.
