We as amateurs generally play on public courses and follow USGA rules. Professional golfers play in events that are run by a committee and they decide when to play preferred lies if conditions merit. We do not have that provision.
I propose the following. When the course declares "cart path only" we be allowed to practice LCP. If carts are off the path, play it down. Opinions? |

I propose if the course declares "cart path only" then don't make it a mandatory charge for a damn cart that doesn't "save me time" as the course claims when I can't drive it to my ball.

I argued that point unsuccessfully with the management of Etowah Valley while a member. Walking is actually faster on those days. |

Sounds like a good idea. Save for the few courses that are always cart path only (e.g. Harding Park or The Ranch in Northern California), regardless of how dry the fairways may be. |

I play LCP anytime that there have been an overnight rain and it is obvious the fairways are wet ... not because it is cart path only.
