Anybody play this course? Right out front of Washington DC? Rates are pretty cheap for such views? Was wondering if it was worth playing a little golf while looking at the monuments?

Is this the one across the Potomac from the airport? My buddy Lou and I used to play there all the time back in the day. It's a basic flat land layout. Nothing really memorable other than the views and the airport. Probably been ten years or more since we played there.

Nothing special about the course at all. They call it links style but really that just means there are very few trees in play. I played it two years ago on a weekday and it was surprisingly crowded. There are some neat views but the course itself is not memorable. But for less than $30 its not a bad way to spend your time.

Having just returned from that area, you will most likely burn up that much in gas waiting in traffic along those highways.

Thanks for the heads up. It says it has great view of the monuments of DC. Thought that would be kind of cool while hitting some golf balls. I'll keep looking around for comparable value north of DC. I don't like being stuck in traffic for not good golf.

This is my first post, but I figure this is a good way to start here, as I play East Potomac pretty frequently. This is not by choice. The DC area is TERRIBLE for golf. There are three muni courses in the metro area (East Potomac being one of them), and the rest of the courses nearby require a 25+ minute drive.
My main issue with the course are the greens and the amount of people they let out. If you plan to play, you better be on the 1st tee at 7:00 AM otherwise it will be a 5+ hour round.
As I said, the greens are often in poor condition and don't seem to be cut all that often. They aren't very challenging either. The fairways are often flooded because the course is on a man-made island with poor drainage. The rough is crab grass and weeds.
A few of the holes have some nice views of the Washington Monument, and the course runs along the Potomac River and several bike paths. So, it's scenic in a unique sense, but it isn't all that riveting.
Feel free to ask more questions if you have them.
I'll post in other threads too. Everyone here seems pretty cool and I like the camaraderie within the group.

I don't think you have to go really really deep, Lee.
