Any of you who have played at a Top Golf facility. Where did you play? How did you like it? What do you think it will do for the sport?

For me Top Golf isn't about working on your game , but having a good time with your buddies playing the target games for a couple of bucks and having a couple of cold ones. They have pretty good food also.

If you want to open up and drain your wallet, it is a good time.
We have 2 in AZ and they are beyond pricey. $45 an hour after 5pm is not going to fit into my plans. 4 hours out on a real golf course for $45 sounds a bit more appealing to me. We have had people state they spent $150 each having a good time in one outing at Top Golf. Really? Same guys that will bitch all day long about golf rates over $50. Hmmm. As for the food? Great food, great bloody marry bar on weekend. If your going to go? Go early morning at $25 an hour. Otherwise be prepared to spend some money. |

I always notice how food creeps into the conversation no matter what the topic.

Been to the Chicago and Dallas locations. Both times in the area for work and we had 8-12 guys out. It was a real good time. Drink beers, some food and laughs. Several target games to choose keeps it novel. Using their equipment was tough for the guys who are more experienced. The balls don't fly like regular balls so it is tough to dial in what club to use. I ended up using two more clubs than usual.
The part about Top Golf I liked more was all the outdoor activities they have there. Horseshoes, quoits, cornhole, giant connect four, ping pong, plus darts and pool in the bar area. Didn't really pay attention to cost since company paid for it but I think in most cases you are better off playing 9 holes instead. |

I live in DFW and we have 3 TG facilities. When they first opened I went. Now I don't even bother. The parents here use it as a facility to dump their kids for a few hours. Last time I went, they said a 3 hour wait and it seemed most people were under 21. They were mostly talking and taking up space. Fortunately I have an executive course near me that is lit ti 10 pm

That was during the day during the Christmas Holidays and it seemed to me that about 80% of the folks there were regular golfers. LOTS of guys there hauling their bag of clubs up the stairs to the entrance and throughout the facility. One of the things I am curious about is what, if anything, it might contribute to increasing participation by introducing people to the game. |
