I walk courses when it's not too hot and the course allows (resorts). The cost is ~$15 less to walk. When I ride the cart has sand to fill in divots; Like repairing ball marks, I fill mine plus 2-3 more. I have no sand to repair divots when I walk with my pull cart.
Question: Doesn't the course suffer more when walkers have no sand to fill in divots, versus the damage caused from carts? Unlike tournaments, I don't think the grounds keepers fill in divots each day after the day's rounds. Some courses I've played, I could go through one jar of sand per hole. |

Depends, I guess. My course has a stand sitting on the side of the walkway with bottles of sand. If you walk just grab one and hook it to your cart. That's what I do. Also I see our marshall's riding around all the time filling divots with sand.

I have been thinking about this lately. The course I play doesnt even have a holder on the carts. So no one uses them, and it shows in the condition of the course. I often walk and was wondering what is best way to carry a sand bottle.
Buck how do you clip them in to your cart? Do you use one of those climbing clips? |

Actually I either stick the whole bottle in the long side pouch on the bag or our bottles have handle on them that come out away from the bottle about 2 inches then go down the side 6 inches. I just hook it on the strap holding my bag in through the handle. |

Either way it is the golfers responsibility to replace ALL of their divots! It's Ian Poulter with green hair!!! |

As far as riding that should be your personal choice. After a round at my local course 7,000 plus yards in Texas Hill Country you would welcome a cart. As far as divots are concerned, you should definitely fill in your own but as far as I am concerned that's part of the golf courses price of doing business. That's my two cents.

So many variables, so little time. I walk a lot. I replace my divots with purpose. If we'd all do our best courses would be in much better shape.
