How much distance is lost in cooler weather?

Played a round today and it was around 50 - 55 and it seemed like all of my shots were coming up really short. I'm not a long hitter by any means but I can normally carry a 9i between 110 and 120 but came up about 10 yards short a couple of times on 100 yard shots. It wasn't just the 9i, it was all of my shots that seemed to be coming up really short. It was very agrrevating!

Does anyone else have this problem in cooler weather or was I just having an off day?

As I understand the formula I would lose 43.75% of my distance resulting in 84.375 yard 8 iron shots. Since in actuality I was hitting it 135 yards, either;

a) - your formula is wrong
b) - I don't understand it, or
c) - this spring I'll be hitting my 8 iron 240 yards.

Or...d) he was just messing with you.

What was it that gave it away Connor?

Not just the temperature, the humidity and the barometer reading also will influence the carrying distance for golf shots.

Also, if you are near the coast you will need to make considerations for low and high tide. These subtle, yet often overlooked details can be the difference between landing on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd tier of 3 tier green.

Please elaborate, what high tide and low tide has to do with the carrying distance ? I know elevation would definitely influence the carrying distance but tide chart ?

From my own experience, I say as much as 5 yards per 10 degrees and definitely 5 yards per 20 degrees.

When it's 105 here in Texas, I can hit 9-iron 150 (plus) without trying to kill it. When it's 70, closer to 140. 60 degrees ... maybe 135.

I've never written it down and tried to analyze it scientificallly, but if my standard yardages are gauged for degrees from 80-90, then I know when it's 70 or less or 95-plus, those yardages will be off by at least half a club.

It is quite simple. The tides are controlled by the gravitational pull of the moon. During high tide the balls trajectory will be higher. I'm sure Mark has the formula for adjustments. Another possibility is that I'm full of nonsense and should not be taken seriously. :)
