I probably play in 6-10 of these events per year. Personally, I enjoy playing in them as long as they aren't too gimmicky. Several of my golfing buddies don't want anything to do with them. What do you think? Like 'em? Hate 'em? Only if someone else is paying? :-D

I used to play in them but it was way to irritating watching all the cheaters. If it is for a good cause I would rather just donate some money and then go play golf without all the crap.

Will not play in a "4 man Scramble" format. I just make donation if tourney is for good cause. I don't like putting myself in position to observe blatant cheating.

Once in a while it is a nice break from straight up stroke play. I prefer the 2 man scramble over the 4 man because it forces both golfers to make shots, but also can alow a golfer to hit a shot that he wouldnt normally hit.
Fun....once in a while! |

Not a bad format; allows for more competition oversight, makes it easier monitor competitors progress. |

Yes, I play in about three all year for money and they are handicapped right. The 4 man 2 mullies a piece scramble for a good cause is just that for a good cause, if we do win we donate the money back.

Hate 'em. I play in one a year...it's a work event. I play with people from my office who are good friends. I'm the only one in the foursome who can break 100 :-) The tournament raises a lot of money for local charity.

I play in several throughout the year. Mostly work related and I am often paired with guys who play once or twice a year. I will also play a couple charity/memorial tourneys and I know what to expect from them. Over the years I have weeded out the tourneys that are not run well or draw too many duffers. I've played with all kinds of gimmicks and they can be a real good time. I played a charity event a few ago that sold mulligans and tossigans for $5 each (one each per player). It was fun to shoot 22 under but I did feel a little guilty about it.
There are weekly two-man and four-man leagues I play in a couple times a month. These are handicapped and draw very good players. |

When I play in them I look at it as a donation to the cause. I don't particularly like them and they get worst the more you try to regulate fairness. My idea would be to sale all the mulligan and all the tricked up games to raise as much money as you can. Just have fun. It not golf.

Going to play in my first two man scramble this weekend. Have already expressed my concern about two foursomes that want to play together. Known cheaters from another course. We'll see.

Earl that should never occur! Don't let that happen. Defeats the purpose. This happened in a 9 hole Friday event we played twice a month. 2somes and they would let buddies play together. Score? Uh 27? Bull####!!! You would get an eagle for a skin on a drivable par 4? There would be eagles on 400yard par 4 holes. More Bull####!!! They finally split them up and all the sudden 32 would win for 9 holes. They stopped showing up. Idiots in all crowds that ruin it for everyone else. Say something and don't let it happen. Just throw out a "how can all friends play in one group of four?" Good Luck! |

I play in 4-5 a year.
And going in I already know you'll have the teams that will shoot 18-20 under to win. Big deal. I'm their to... 1. Support a charity 2. Play golf 3. Have fun with friends. 4. Usually good food =) So go in with these in mind, and really unless you plan to cheat, you probably wont win so focus on why your their and let the hackers steal their so called victory. The golf gods will punish them later. |

It all has been said already. I love them and play 2 or 3 a year. All for charities so I really don't care about the format though I to don't like them to get too gimicky, i.e. hand grenades and such. Most I play you can buy tape for $1.00 a foot. You toss the amount of tape you use so you have to be a little smart as to when you are going to use it. Most I play are best ball foursomes and you have to use a minimum of two drive's per person not including par 3's. It is all for charity and frankly just a good time, good food and good fellowship. I also use it to try out shots I normally would not try, or sometimes to try out different clubs, my buddies and I will swap clubs just for the fun of it.

When you have to play by the rules (no gimmies or mulligans) and the highest handicapper in the group is a 5, I kinda like them.
Corporate scrambles? I'd rather go fishing or shoot something.I can't stand them. Especially the 6-1/2 hour ones |
