I injured myself while hitting out of the rough yesterday - tweaked one of my right arm forearm flexors. After that I could hardly get any pressure on the club at all. Short game went south and somehow I managed to finish my round with some nasty doubles/triples. This happened on the 12th hole and played the next two holes miserably. However on the 14th I noticed that I was still hitting my driver well so I switched to half swings with my hybrids. Thanks to graphite shafts I was still getting decent distance on those swings and I even managed to finish with a par on the par 5 - 18th. I was really happy with the way I was able to overcome this and I came away with a lesson learned. My injury was not bad but it was enough to blow up a couple of holes. After I got into the clubhouse I began to appreciate some of the obstacles the pros deal with when so much is on the line. The mental aspect is very challenging. I'm sure all of us have had a similar experiences. I thought it might be interesting to hear what you have to say. |

Imagination and ingenuity are wonderful things.

Almost 4 months ago I was playing at my home course, and aggravated my left foot at some point during the Front 9 and beginning on the 12th hole I was really feeling the pain and was using my driver as a walking stick. I'd get these occasional snaps of pain in the back of my foot for a split second that were extremely painful. I limped a lot for the next week, but then it just disappeared all of the sudden. Very weird, not sure what happened.

I for one will not dog any of the pros again - playing with a slight injury can take so much from your game. On the flip side, I have huge amounts of respect for some of the pros who have played with nagging injuries. The mental aspect more than anything is huge. |

The dude I was playing with Friday got a blister on his foot on the 16th. Everything went waaaay left after that. After losing 2 balls OB on the 18th, he kept the ball in his pocket.

Very painful. It did have a silvery lining though. I found that if I focused on my footwork and kept the swing smooth it put less pressure where it hurt. Now I'm NOT recommending you go get plantars fascitis so that you can improve your game! |

You get tendinosis. Frigging very very painful. I just went through another wave of it 2 weeks ago, and almost gone now. I have had extreme pain, play through it barely walking and being as tough as nails, for it to all the sudden subside. It comes back though. The pain is brutal. |
