I didn't want to keep going off topic on that PGA Championship thread, my apologies, but I wanted to finish with the NFL stuff we had started.
COG, I am with you on Tebow. Here's what I don't get. The two biggest fan phenomena of last season were Tebowmania and Linsanity and now both these guys are on new teams. Huh? I know those franchises are trying to win, but these guys were winning and creating excitement. I like that the Jets picked up Tebow, a class act, a quality human being, and a winner. Should be fun to watch.
Robert, you're right, I exagerrated the Cowboy predictions a little, but you kind of make my point. After their 13-3 year, a nice year, they lose in the playoffs at home to a division rival, who goes on to win the Super Bowl. Now, unless you just traded Tony Romo for Eli Manning, how does someone logically pick the Cowboys to win it all the next year?
Bucknuts, you are 100% correct that Rex Ryan, Rob Ryan, and Jerry Jones, all with the same team, would be a thrill ride like no other, and hilarious fun. You also hit the Cowboys' problem on the head: Jerry Jones. His ego will not allow for the Cowboys to be successful if somebody else is getting the credit. That's what happened with Jimmy Johnson and same with Bill Parcells, who laid the groundwork for that 13-3 team mentioned above. He's a brilliant businessman, but just a so-so football guy. Case in point, he made Parcells play Drew Henson, while it was Parcells who kept Romo around.

Daaaaaaaaaaa Bears.

I think my club is going to surprise a lot of folks this year. Healthy and happy Forte, Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffries... quality backup to Cutler, finally (Jason Campbell)... I'd rethink that 8-8 prediction... this homer says 12 wins.

I'll go with most of that EXCEPT for the Brandon Marshall part. Thank God the Fins let him walk. The guy cost us more 1st downs and touchdowns by dropping passes. The only reason he led the team in receptions is because they only threw to him. Devon Bess played 2nd fiddle to Marshall all season. The Fins finally realized their mistake too late. Best thing they ever did was give him his walking papers. The guy has personal issues, is selfish, and a liar. Oh, did I mention he has butterfingers? hehe.

I know he hasn't performed as well as expected, but you can't say that it'll be harder to catch a pass in this Chicago system, i mean, the Fins have two backup QBs at best competing for the starting spot. And as the team reports for this year, the competition is wide open.

I fully expect Marshall to easily outperform last year's numbers.

And as far as the issues with the law, what have there been this offseason, 20 arrests of NFL players plus the bounty debacle? Thank goodness these guys don't have to pass background checks.

Keep in mind I went to the University of Miami, so maybe I've learned to turn a blind eye to those off-field activities! Just suit up and catch the ball Marshall!

Hello ya'll STEELER's........I might be afraid that RG III is scary

1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v..
2) I could be dead wrong on this, and I fully understand the consequences of being dead wrong on this, but I think RG3 is going to be a bust. If I'm right, you heard it here first.

Throw enough darts around you'll eventually hit the board.

DEC 16th, 4:25pm pittsburgh @ DALLAS ..........love it!

Dallas 35, Pittsburgh 17

There's a dart for you ... (and I reserve the right to change that to Pittsburgh 34, Dallas 28 with Miles Austin dropping the game-tying TD in the back corner of the end zone with 0:04 left in the game :) )

Lol, love it. We've all been down this road with our teams. You know they are going to win this game...except you know exactly how they might lose it.

lmfao!!!!!!!!! I can see that happening. I can also see Romo building a 3 TD lead only to throw 3 or 4 INT's in the 4th quarter like he did against the JETS last year!

Last year it was our Defense was Old,Slow and Done....We ended up with the #1 Ranked Defense....again. This year I have already heard the naysayers predicting us 3rd in the division. Only a fool would ever count the Pittsburgh Steelers out of a season without a snap even being made, so keep on counting us out, I love the Underdog role. When February comes around we will be taking the Stairway to Seven. Here we go Steelers....Here we go

He's an old 37 though, mentally and physically.

COG, this is your quote regarding Tiger. He's only 3 months older than Peyton Manning, and if you want to see an old 37, NFL QB is a good place to start looking. In workouts I've watched and that first preseason game, I'm just not seeing any zip on the ball. Kind of reminds me of former Jets qb Chad Pennington when his arm was shot. I hope I'm wrong on this. Peyton represents everything positive in professional sports and I wish him success in Denver.

I didn't see the old Manning zip, but I didn't see the Tebow zip, so the ball was getting there about 5x quicker! Much improved! I'll give him time. It was his first game in 19 months and in rainy conditions. If I get worried about it, I'll be worried after next month's opener against Pittsburgh. Otherwise, call me happy.

As a longtime 49er fan I can tell you most emphatically--NO it does not get old.

Ha! Tannehill looks promising. Dolphins might be a threat in about 5 years time. We'll see.

Looking back on it, my predictions sucked. Completely missed on the Colts, Vikings, Seahawks, Redskins, Eagles, Titans, and Lions. Only teams I got dead right were the Chargers, Texans, and Cowboys. I reserve the right to declare my 49ers prediction half-correct, because the 49ers should have lost that game where they tied the Rams to be 11-5, not 11-4-1.
