What if every law abiding U.S. citizen was "loosely" required to maintain and carry a firearm? We already know that gun laws do not affect those who do not abide by the laws. So, would it become a huge step backward and encourage outright gun fights, or would it make a "wanna be" crook think twice before he tried to take mamma's bag?

The only reason that we are not speaking Japanese or German right now is because of our gun laws. The Japanese leaders said that the only reason they never tried to send their troops to mainland USA during WW2 was because every citizen had access to a gun and we would wipe their forces out before they could even get past the Rockies.

England now has very strict gun laws and their crime rates are higher then ever.

Here in NC there has been a huge jump in CCP applicatiins over the past 5-6 years. In that same time period there has been a consistent drop in crime rates to the point that we are at an 40 year low in crime rates

Yeah, and You know from watching TV here in NC that there have been two or three recent cases where shop and home owners used deadly force and were not charged with any crime. At some point stupid people are going to start thinking, "this dude may be armed, maybe I'll go break into a coke machine instead."

It's the place I want to be: So dangerous you have to pack heat to buy a gallon of milk.

Good times ...

Had a buddy walk into a Safeway store in the morning to use an ATM, only to have two guys walk out behind him and rob him at gun point at his truck. He said they asked for his wallet. He said get lost. The african american guy opened his jacket and pointed gun at him. Mind you, my buddy is not a small dude. It didn't matter, the losers had a plan. If he was normally carrying like he does in Arizona, who knows what would have been the final result. The bottom line is we are open targets wherever we are anymore.

We could not make judgment from the outcome of one incident.

I know what you are trying to say and that looney is a coward to march in a tight confinement space fully armed to shoot up innocent people like in a video game. He's a coward because he couldn't even use suicide by police and did not take his own life at the end. A sad stupid spoil brat, whom missed a few good spanking when he needed it growing up.

Would shooting back at this looney helped ? Maybe, in this incident.... however, having all the citizens carry a firearm like the Switzerland would probably cause more harm than good simply because there are more chance of the average people to miss-use the firearm than using it to maintain peace.
No more wild wild West.

Damn it I knew I shouldn't have said anything. Gun control is a touchy subject, I'm sure I have no idea what I'm talking about, but it's the view of a 16 year old boy who doesn't like 21st century society trying to form an opinion on controversial issues.

Gators don't bother me one bit. When I'm not on the golf course, I'm in the Everglades, or fishing backwater someplace. My son and I stepped on one about 8 feet long one morning before daylight. Walking to our tree stands we were cutting across an airboat trail in about 3 feet of water. It scared the gator as much as it scared us. Sucker was just laying on the bottom. All of a sudden you felt something move under your fet, then the water exploded. Almost crapped myself. lol. I'll see if I can dig up a few pics and post them up here.

The lucky ones get to tell these stories; the rest are just indigestion.
