One thousand and one circumstances, excuses, anomalies all…one of a kind events? Just how close do you come to perfectly policing yourself? If you knew you had a close up camera on your every shot I would hope that it would be a no brainer; but we do not, and traditions are stretched each and every day.
So let’s pose the question thusly: Out of every opportunity to “fudge†a ruling, how often do you take that avenue? A gunshot? A backfire? Your nuts got a tickle (sorry girls, you make up your own equivalent. I’m not going there.) I wish I could get an anonymous pole on this, I’d be very interested to get a true reading but I’ll take what I can get and take it as a little evidence and a little entertainment. |

No that is someone far better looking and a much better golfer than I am. Like Daniel said, we WILL play golf together some day. |

Depends on the purpose of my round. Early in the year, i will move my ball to better ground, etc (winter rules). Early season my main goal is to improve confidence. Hitting off of horrible lies, etc doesn't accomplish this purpose. Once I get beyond this short period (maybe a month or 4 rounds or so), I always do everything according to the rules. At this point my purpose is to improve my entire game (my confidence is not really any issue at this point). I definitely feel like you will never get better if you do not really see where your weaknesses are. You can't do this without playing by the rules.
If I break rules, it is due to a lack of knowledge. I try my best to apply rules the best way I know how. I do not go back to the Tee for lost balls, If I have doubts I hit a provisional to avoid having to do that. Like others this is just a matter of keeping pace, etc. |
