I've been trying out some low compression balls in an effort to gain yardage out of my (I think) slower swing. According to a swing speed calculator I've used (I haven't been on a radar yet) I carry the ball between 200 and 220 for a swing speed of about 85 to 95 mph using a ProV1 and a Callaway FTi 10 degree neutral driver. I'd like to get some feedback from players of this swing speed group, or those with knowledge of this group, regarding balls such as the Nike One Vapor, Bridgestone 330 RX, and soon the Maxfli Tour LC. Have the balls really worked for you in the real world? Which one is your choice and what do you like about it? I played a Maxfli DDH II when I was in high school but it seemed like Maxfli went the "toy store" route as opposed to being a serious contender in the PGA Tour golf ball market. I'm sorry, but I don't care how good it may play, I ain't hittin' no NOODLE!!!

Srixon Soft Feel has a promotion going on now.
I'm not short of golf balls and certainly have not played a soft two piece ball except for the winter months. However, could not pas the deal, One dozen soft feel + bonus box of 6 more and + a Srixon tour towel for $19. I played the soft feel years ago when it first came out and thought it was OK. It putts very fast on the carpet with the advertised soft feel. look into srixon they have a website that you can put your game in and they will recommend a ball that they make I started using srixon and like them so far they are a high priced ball so I hit others as well

It's not the ball I use since our swing speeds are different, but the Nike Karma ball is a 50 compression and might be a good choice for you. The Bridgestone B330RX is borderline for your swing speed. 85 mph is pretty low for a ball of that caliber. The Nike One Vapor is very similiar to the Titleist NXT Tour and I have heard it both ways. Some say the NXT Tour is the better ball, some say the Vapor. Now I know I can't give you a link here as that's a no-no anymore, but do a google search for Dr. Mulligan's Golf Balls and I'll be glad to send you whatever you choose to go with. Our balls are used but in mint condition, no pen marks, scuffs or discoloration. They'll look like they rolled out of the box. The Karma's are $10/dz, Vapor's are $17/dz, and B330RX are $30/dz. Orders over $99 ship for free. If you want references for customer satisfaction then ask Stracka members mojo69 and kwehlen. I'm sure there are more but those are 2 that I KNOW of. Don Don, We can buy the B330RX for $32/doz. brand new around here. How much do you think they cost? Dr. Mulligan's Golf Balls $32 is a steal. I haven't seen them for less than $39.99 around here. BTW, our site dropped the price on these to $29/dz a few weeks ago and just had them on sale for $27 last week. |

I am a firm believer in the Nike One Vapor. It is comparable to the old Nike One Black which I had switched to from the Callaway HX Hot. I easily hit it 10-15 or more yards longer than others I have tried. I have comparable swing speed to you.

I easily hit it 10-15 or more yards longer than others I have tried. I have comparable swing speed to you. Since you have played the Nike One Vapor enough to feel comfortable recommending it, I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts after playing the Maxfli Tour LC. Maybe hit a sleeve and report?????? I played the Nike One Vapor, I bought a box. I like it, even though I have such a hard time getting past the "Nike" name. I played the Maxfli DDH II waaaaaayyyy back when and was excited to see Maxfli getting back into a serious competitive mode with a Tour ball. Of course, the Maxfli name was bought by Taylor Made so I'm not exactly sure what the philosophy is at this point. If I were to hit into a blind test right now, I bet I'd end up chosing the Nike. I'm shakey on my feelings toward spin. The problem is that my course aerated and sanded the greens about a month ago and although they look great, the are very firm. It can be hard to just find your ball mark to make the repair. So I guess you'de EXPECT your ball to roll out a bit further wouldn't you? I appreciate the great feedback my man! |

tWilson makes the 0 compression and it isn't for distance just soft feel. The NXT Extreme is more for your swing speed than the NXT Tour. I have also played the Vapor One , 330RX and almost every ball for distance. The 330RX is my best distance ball but I swing a little faster than you.I only use it when in some kind of tournament usually. The rest of the time I like the E5 or the NXT tour. I did buy some Srixon balls their site recommended and will be trying them tomorrow I hope (thats if the wind ever slows down below 20 mph that is). I haven't tried any of the Maxifli. I did try some of TM's Penta's and didn't like the ease of damage. One swing with my 7 iron in an open position and it had a huge scarring.
For distance may I recommend being fit to your driver. It will help you not only know your swing speed but they can get you to your best probably spin (less is more). I'm looking forward to all your stats. I did this with out the curves ;-). It's great to have 8 acres to hit on and use to figure out these fun little things. |

so what low compression ball is Hot this week? i'm playing this Sat. and i got to have my game on! any thoughts! Go to Galaxy Golf and get a box of Maxfli Tour LC. They mate up very well to the FT9 Tour driver you have. I'd like to hear what you think of them. It's all I play now. |

I've been using the Maxfli Tour LC for the last 6 or so rounds. I also bought a Callaway Tour FT 9 10.5. My average drive has increased from about 210/220 to 240/250. My very good meat whackers have jumped from 227 to 269. It almost seems like the spin coming into the greens in down 'cause I regularly stopped and dropped the Pro V1s. The Maxfli seems to be rolling out 4 or 5 yards, BUT, I think this has a lot more to do with the greens still recovering from the aeration and sanding. I mean, it's hard to find your ball mark sometimes on the greens so they're just not as soft as there were a rew months ago. Of all the balls I've tried, the Nike One Vapor was running ahead of the Bridgestone B330 RX until the Maxfli came out this March. My 7 iron picked up from about 148 to 155 on all the low compression balls. I'm still blowing a few greens when I hit one "pure" (I've had a problem with that term since the last series of Big Break) as I continue to dial in the yardage on the new ball. wow! really..i have too try that Maxfli,i been told if your club head is not over a 100 mph, than you cannot compress the PROV1,so why even spend money on all these high compression golf balls, when the low compression golf balls, can get you the distance & accuracy! thanks for the tip..T |
