The 2011 US Am. Starts tomorrow at Erin Hills (http://www.erinhills.com/defau..) Looks like a great course but like Whistling Straits, Pebble Beach, Arcadia Bluffs, etc, etc, Joe Public will have to shell out $200+ to play it.

Going to be a good prelude to the 2017 US Open.

I love the US Amateur. I'm picking Peter Uihlein to repeat.

Going to try and qualify for the 12' Amateur at Cherry Hills which is 20 minutes away from me next year if I can drop my handicap 7 shots.

Good luck with that. Going from an 8 to a 1 is a huge move.

Made the move from 17 to 8 already this year so I'd say it's possible.

better add 100 yards to your driving distance. They play from the back tees in the big leagues.

17 to 8 is a great accomplishment but each point lower from there gets harder and harder.

I agree. I didn't expect myself to get below 10 this year, so I set my goal at 12.7. Blew that out of the water. It'll be 5 less from where ever I get it on December 31st like it was this year, but I've got confidence and belief that I can lower it even more.

I believe you can, with a lot of hard work and tons of time at the range. You do need to add at least 50 yards to your drives, otherwise you will be struggling to hit those long par 4's in two. Amateur qualifying will be from a much longer distance.

Only about 1% of over 6,000 entrants make it to match play. You'd better bring your A game. And maybe one of those "funny" golf balls. There's a Par 4 at Erin Hills playing 524 yards......and today it was into the wind.
