Phil has worn some abominations in his time, viz. that figure-hugging chocolate-brown shirt, those daft cream pinstripe pants at Bethpage last year. But he really outdid himself yesterday. Navy shirt, white pants with tan belt and shoes? Sheesh man, do you never look in the mirror?! Do you think he picks them himself or does he have a coke-addled fashion consultant with red suspenders who has a bet with his colleagues about the worst outfit he can persuade Lefty to wear?

The worst thing about it is I asked my wife's opinion on how hideous Phil's clothes were and she said he looked one of the sharpest-dressed players out there. I'll be buying her a white stick for her birthday.

I think I can throw in my two cents...

Phil needs to lose the white and black New York Yankee Pinstripes...not a good look.

As for the young golfers. I think they look great...minus the pink on pink option worn by Ishikawa. I like pink, I own at least two pairs of pink golf trousers, but pink on pink should be reserved for Paula Cramer(sp?).

I am a huge fan of plaid trousers...love them...own them...wear them. Golf is not golf unless you look like Rodney Dangerfield Caddy Shack.

My wife's criticism with Phil is that he wears his pants too short. If you can see your socks your a nerd. (Her words not mine).

But bear in mind I wear plaid trousers, knickers, and even a shirt and tie when I golf. I started wearing plaid trousers 6 years ago when I started to play golf. Not many people were wearing them then and people laughed...heck they still do. I just remind people that golf is a game and the main goal of a game is to have fun.

Actually just being there, we parked ourselves on 3 tee box Sunday morning. We were within 5' of every player. Phil looked really good, I liked the pin-stripe pants. Maybe tv made him look stupid, but his attire looked really good in person. Poulter is a walking fasion statement along with Ryo. Matching shoes to match their outfits. Poulter is actually a bigger guy as well than I pictured him on tv. He is around 6'2" or 6'3". The funny thing about Ryo is, he takes it one step further than Poulter. His head cover for his driver is a splitten image doll of himself--its hilarious!!

Actually, you might be able to hit it that far. That course was rock hard from the tee box to the fairways to the greens. The players were actually working to get their tee into the ground~

Funny you bring that up. Once upon a time I had the PGA policy on watering fairways. I am not sure where I placed it, but the PGA tells the courses not to water the fairways of PGA Tour events prior to the start of the tournament. I can't remember how many days before, but I remember it was significant. PGA Tour fairways are hard and the roll is exceptional. I would liken them to playing in Scotland where I averaged over 300 yards off the tee playing a 1920's hickory shafted driver.

In Phil's press confrence afterward you could tell he just just wanted to say what he thought about that, but he stopped. I would have like to hear what he thought.

That just had to be amazing being there! Did you get to play any courses on your trip?!

K.J. Choi, Ernie Els, Tiger, Anthony Kim and I believe Adam Scott ... and there are more, but those guys are my favorite dressers because they almost always were solids. Real simple, very classic with no gimmicks. Except Kim's ridiculous belt buckles, but whatever. He's young and stupid.

Rickie Fowler's outfits are awesome. But like Ian Poulter, he needs to WIN if he's going to dress like an ass. Loud or ridiculous outfits look better on winners.

Phil is wearing clothes two sizes too small. It makes him look fatter than he really is. I miss his monocrhome days of black, white or black-and-white.

The players were so pissed off at themselves, Phil, Tiger, Ernie, they all realize that the championship was theirs if they just go out and shoot a -1 or in Tigers case even par. I was standing right next to Tiger when he snap hooked his tee ball on 3--He tried hitting a 3 metal and over cooked it left. Johnson did the same thing, funny thing, Bones wanted Phil to hit 3 metal off the tee, just to fade it down there. The hole was 404, it was about 220-230 to carry the junk and it was "JUNK". Some guys like Johnson, Ryo, Whatney just took it over the trees right at the green, which is probably 330 carry. Micktold Bones no, give him the driver, Bones was totally againest it. No playing, just watching, the next trip though the clubs will be going. I'll post pics today--course is incredible in person, tv doesn't do it justice!!

cogolfer1, obviously you are a fatty, oops i mean lefty lover. talking about ryo, and poulter? i admitt these guys sometime wear some questionable outfits, but atleast they actually took the time to coordinate and match from top to bottom what they're wearing.

On the other hand...Fatty can pullout some crazy ass shots but cant color coordinate! Honestly, i think Stevie Wonder dresses him before each round. Crazy stupid, non matching, 2 sizes too small wearing mo'fo'. i enjoy watching hime though, hell of a player.

L.M.A.O. I,Agree.Stevie Wonder dresses him? LOL!!!!

Well I root for both Pulter and Ishikawa as well. Poulter's actually my second favorite player. It just seems odd to me people criticize Mickelson's clothing when Daly and Pulter have their stuff going on.

I'm bit of a fashionista. I don't totally agree with your wife stating as the sharpest person( DL3 gets my vote), but do i agree. I thought the outfit was well put together cause Amy was there to dress him.

I always root for Mickelson, but he really does have a terrible style. Not one I or anyone on this planet will copy. Those Barclays pin-striped shirts are the worst. Not to mention those tight ass pants. He's definitely too olld to look like that. I liked what Dustin Johnson was wearing day 3. All grey Addidas shirt and pants. And Alvaro Quiros. Can you tell I liked the hat? Ryo looked like he was going to sleep. He had is pajamas on. I always hate to see people wear their bed clothes to the course. One of these days Im gonna wear my Hammer pants to the course and see what kind of response I get.

Would love to see the hammer pants with a gold jacket...go for it.
Like Quiros & D.Johnson
The pants aren't terrible, the tightness is; especially the shirts.
