Thanks in advance to anyone who can weigh in on this topic. I'm a Newbie, last summer was my first season golfing. I am interested in finding a competent female instructor this year because I would love to develop good habits early on verses waiting many years to attempt to get rid of them. My question is, how do you find a well qualified, competent instructor without breaking the bank? Is there any way to tell that they know what they are doing early on so that if necessary I can change instructors right away?

Thanks, that was helpful. I will do that and see if it helps. I have a mallot style putter with a line down the center and often times, I don't trust my line and that usually gets me into trouble! LOL

I completely agree with Mr. Lewis. The old addage was "drive for show and putt for dough!" The short game is very important. Nothing like getting on the green in regulation and then three putting or more.

A practice technique I use on the green is to line up three balls in a row starting from about a foot and a half to two feet out and place the other two a foot further each...so you will have a putt from 1.5-2', 3' and 4'. Work at hitting them all in from that distance. Move around the cup and work at the different angles.
I also like to use the trademark of the ball or the line put on the ball to line up the putt. Place the line at the position you want the ball to roll, following the read of the green. Line your putter up perpendicular to the ball...or if your putter has the line in the center, line it up to the ball line and then....trust your line! My biggest problem at times is I may not trust the line and when I line myself up for the putt, I change it because I'm thinking the look of the green is not the same. Don't change it, trust it!
Hope this helps.
