There are a few topics that I can go on for days about. Sports, fitness, and talking about the golf swing are my favorites. If you wanna talk fitness, I can help you sift through all of the b.s.

I'll bite.....

Several people in the other post keep taking about strength to make the ball go further.

That's part of the problem. Strength doesn't make the ball go further, speed does.

I don't think flexibility is as important. There are some old geezers who can play very well and basically utilize a half swing.

So what are we really talking about? Do you have to hit it further to play better golf? Probably not.

NO!!!!!!! Look at my scorecards to prove that! I can drive it 300+ regularly but can't get it into the hole (a golf ball that is)! Where as one of my partners probably isn't much more than 240-250 off the tee box and beats me 4 out of 5 times.

I guess I'll be hitting my approach shots 1st then next month....LOL

It didn't take me 8hrs to answer. I answered the question as I thought it related to you.
Don't worry about fast/slow twitch muscles
I suggested having good overall fitness along with good mechanics and equipment. As to your question about fast twitch muscle speed. It doesn't make sense. Would you like to know how to generate more speed in your swing? That's more about swing mechanics.

Now, your next question is about balance. Again, this isn't a fitness question. Do you need to improve your balance? Do you have trouble walking down the street without falling? It seems you'd like to know how to have better balance in your golf swing. None of this has anything to do with what this thread was intended for.

as far as needing to see a doctor before attempting clean & jerks, I don't know why. You would know if you were physically limited. If you want to learn the olympic lifts such as the clean & jerk, power clean, hang snatch, etc; you'd be better suited finding a trainer with experience teaching those lifts. Trainers with a certification in the olympic lifts have to recertify annually, so it's a cert that has merit.

This thread needs to be closed now, because it's been derailed.

However, my opinion that a lot of people on these boards have no clue about fitness and nutrition still holds true. Keep believing the bro science.

Fitness.. I'll talk fitness.. in the past two years I've dropped my handicap by approximately 4 strokes, added 15 to 25 yards of driver distance, hitting irons 20-15 yards longer, up and downs increased from 30% to 58%, putting average decreased by nearly a stroke per round, GIR increased by 30 to 40%. Why? I'm stronger, more flexible, and.. smarter... more confident..I've increased my flexibility, my core stregth, and endurance...I can smoke or hang with anybody on golfq... Fitness, technology, and balls.... any takers???
