Rory McIlroy obviosly is looking forward to the Ryder Cup in October and hopes to be matched against a struggling Tiger.
"I'm sure we'll probably see him [Tiger Woods] in Wales," added McIlroy. "I would love to face him. Unless his game rapidly improves...I think anyone in the European team would fancy their chances against him." McIlroy is not convinced that he deserves to be one of Corey Pavin's Ryder Cup picks but the fully expects Tiger to be in the US team. "There are a lot of American players playing better than him at the minute but it's always an advantage to have Tiger Woods in your team. "I think he'll [Pavin] pick him. I don't think it would go down too well in the States if he wasn't picked." Well lets hope he gets what he wishes for just like Sergio, Stephen Ames, Woody Austin, Rory Sabbatini, etc. |

Tiger can't get up to win a major but some newbie says he'd welcome the challenge and this is supposed to motivate Tiger. "oh, no you didn't, it's on now Rory". puhlease. " oh snap, Tiger got served ", whatever that means. maybe he is pumped up to make Rory eat his words, but wait, uh-oh, the divorce is final. back to a head full of bad stuff. i like that Rory says he'd like his odds. should he have said, " i'm very excited to play at the Ryder Cup as long as it's not against Tiger" ? if anything, i figured the Tiger fans would call Rory a bully and that he should take it easy on Tiger while he's in his fragile state. but i am a sucker for the underdog, maybe i will root for Tiger this time.

Rory...bit of advice...win a major then you can talk smack. All mouth and no clout...just the Euro way. Who talks alot...Monty = O-fer Majors...Sergio = 0-fer Majors...Westwood = 0-fer majors...Poulter = 0-fer majors.
If I was a European Tour Fan I would be ticked that these guys are running their mouths about respect and yet can't win a big one. Paddy lets his game do his talking and I admire that. There is an old saying...you don't step on Superman's Cape. Tiger will put his personal issues behind him and when he does I think he's going to make a historic run. |

Two pretty common phrases come to mind. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Don't know until you try. I applaud him for hoping for that match up.

That's the topic of this forum, and that's what McIlroy was talking about. Last twelve Ryder Cups: Europe 8 USA 4 Monty 20-9-7 ............23.5 points Sergio 14-6-4.............16.0 points Westwood 14-10-5...........16.5 points Poulter 5-2-0...............5.0 points Tiger 10-13-2...........11.0 points |

I love Rory and hope he wins 20 majors, but it makes no sense to rile Tiger Woods. He's a lucky dude if it doesn't come back to bite him.

If I were him, or anyone else on the European side, I would like my chances too. After all, even when he was BMOGC (Big Man On Golf Course), he STILL lost in the Ryder Cup. His record is less that 50%.
Why would ANYBODY want him on the team when there are others who have a winning record and are also playing better? He may have been the best there is at this present time, but NOT on the Ryder Cup. Open your eyes, people, and smaell the coffee. |

my guess is Rory has been in the guiness one to many times Wanna bet? Take a look at Tiger's losing Ryder Cup record, his play over the last year and a half vs. Rory's, think about it, and try again. |
