Can some one define "scrambling" and "bounce backs"? We have these terms in My Reports but I am confused on what makes a successful "scramble" or "bounce back". Thanks for your help.

GreenReader,

I noticed in one of my recent rounds that i was credited for a bounce back on a round where i never shot better than bogey on each hole. How is this possible? I thought you had to score par or better on the very next hole after a bogey or worse to get credit for a bounce back? The best i could muster that day were 8 bogeys.

It's probably because of your handicap. If you're a low handicap, you may need a birdie for a "bounce back". If you're a mid-handicap, it may be a par after a bogey. And if you're a high handicap, it could mean bouncing back with a bogey after a double or worse.

Scrabling I believe is sucessful up n downs or sand saves and bounce backs are a sucessful hole played after you killed the previous one. In other words, you follow a bogie up with a birdie or par~

Bounce backs have nothing to do with handicap. Acballplayer is correct in the definition of a bounce back. I looked at acballplayer's scorecard and I couldn't find the bounce back either.

Dandy you're thinking of 'Up and In'

From Stracka:
Up and Down
A "Made" up-and-down is a score of par on a hole without a "Green in Regulation". A "Missed" up-and-down is a failed attempt at saving par on a hole without a "Green in Regulation".
From the PGA Tour:
Scrambling is the % of par or better without a GIR

This was a hot topic before. However, Stracka has taken into account that some people score an up & down as a chip and a 1 putt. Therefore, now the scrambling stat is a calculated field.

Best response!

I'm in the same boat, I have several rounds where I'm credited for bounce backs when I have no pars or better in the round (See my scorecard 6/2/10 for an example). Also, I followed up a bogey with a birdie and was not credited for a bounce back (see my scorecard 6/10/10). Does anyone have a definitive answer to the bounce back issue? Oftentimes it really seems arbitrary...

I think we've covered Bounce backs.

Scrambling:
If you par or better with FIR and GIR no scramble.
If you par or better with no FIR or no GIR, you're scrambling.
And if you were in the bunker in either case, you're scrambling.

I think that's the case.
