Shorten your driver for better contact.
Most of use are using a driver much too long. 90% of players on tour use a driver with a length of 44 to 44 1/2. The average length of a driver off the rack is 45 1/2 to 46 inches. My Callaway B.B was at 45 1/2 had it cut to 44 1/2 and wanted to go to 44 but would have totally lost the swing weight. Anyway have played 2 rounds with the shorter length and have hit it very solid off the tee. Distance doesn't seem to have suffered much. I guess I should have been fit for a drive a long time ago. What are your thoughts on this and are you playing the right length. |

I am going to switch to a 35" driver. Hitting every fairway boys! That's about 8 inches shorter then normal. Won't you lose a lot of distance? 20 yds. with the putter straight down the middle. |

Im 5'8" and have had very little difficulty off the rack drivers. Finally broke down and got fitted for a driver this winter. Callaway DBD and cut to 44 1/2. Stiff graphite. Matched with heavier shaft weight. First time I had ever been fitted. Will not be the last. Eliminates a lot of the guessing, like is talked about on therest of this post.

Good luck with the fit driver James. Hope it works out. |
