9/16/2011 11:41:21 PM Fowler chokes on Sunday's. The only time he really didn't was at The Open Championship this year. That's the only time he didn't choke. I think McIlroy definitely wants to get the the top and stay. The guys in the last 3 years that are suppose to be so good don't finish, or don't even start. There is no one in this new breed with any determination outside of McIlroy. Need proof? He blows up at the Masters, and he then wins the next major. Also that tournament where on the 3rd hole (I believe) on the tournament, after he messed up his wrists, he risks further possible injury by finishing the round and tournament. There is no present rivalry, you are right. No one is win more than two times in a year, and the only person that is close in a lot of events is Matt Kuchar, who can't seem to get it done this year. Kuchar-McIlroy could be something to watch as a rivalry in the future. I don't think Fowler will break his chokes for a few years. Every time he gets into that Sunday orange, it turns into death black. |

9/16/2011 8:24:59 AM I all the ashes Tiger will rise again like a Pheonix, you can take that to the bank. Until then, let's just allow the rest of the golfers to share in the glory for a while. Keep the faith. Maybe Tiger isn't the "Man" he was but he still is THE golfer we know. Even when we all know his game stinks we still flock to see what he will do. He brought the excitement and charisma and the $. Now it's about the $. Look at the Golf Channel making all these big bucks deals and yet all we see until Thursdays is commercials, repetitive episodes of "whatever". |

9/14/2011 10:39:31 AM now is the time for you to pick a new favorite and his rivals will come out in the wash.....the next five years of golf will provide not one dominant player (like tiger) but about a handful that swap green jackets. If you didn't enjoy Rory tanking then coming back and destroying the field you just might want to find another sport to watch. |

9/14/2011 9:57:28 AM When Tiger was there guys would look over their shoulder to see where he was. No one has to do that now. I think there are lots of good golfers out there right now, just not the 2 or 3 guys that are a little above the rest. I always wanted to see someone take it from Tiger not to see him throw it away. |

9/12/2011 9:59:24 PM I agree with the rivalry portion but I still watch it. In fact, I am enjoying the nationals as much as any of them. |

9/12/2011 3:08:22 PM I totally agree with you. The amount of exitement and the amount of people that watch golf has been lost during Tigers sabbatical. He will be back, but it will be hard for him to dominate as he did before. We have to remember, what he did (not going over the stats, to many to list) was not suppose to happen. No one was suppose to dominate like that. Its just a matter of numbers. 100 years ago there was 10 good golfers that could win. 50 years ago there was 25. 25 years ago there was 50. Now with so many people playing golf there over 100 players that are good enough to win any given weekend. So to see someone dominate the way Tiger did with so many good players was special. I for one am thankful I was around to see it because I don't think this will happen again in the history of golf. I think 50 years from now people will look at what Tiger did and say "how the hell did he do that, that wasn't suppose to happen". |

9/11/2011 11:08:42 PM If you continue to personality chase, you will always be let down. Enjoy the game regardless of who is standing over the ball and you will come out just fine ...... |

9/11/2011 10:19:52 PM These things go in cycles. Some would say Tiger's domination was boring. No one could legitimately challenge him for years. What you are seeing now is the emergence of a new generation of players--some will form the next rivalries, others are just pretenders. Many more in that emerging group than those you listed: Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Adam Scott, Nick Watney, Bubba Watson, Webb Simpson. All those guys are in the top 15 in the World! And there are others on their way up. |

9/11/2011 6:54:28 PM McIlroy is from Norhern Ireland; Fowler has flair and I'm pretty sure Mahan is not from Texas. |
