This Titleist Velocity is very surprising in it's feel. I was surprised to learn that it was actually a 2 piece ball. I wouldn't have imagined that I'd be playing a 2 piece ball but I'm giving this one a fair chance.

Titleist sent a few of these my way along with some new NXT and NXT Tours to try out. Not sure if they are exactly the same ball you are getting off the shelf or not. I'm a Titleist ball tester and they don't generally tell us. They just want the honest feedback. It will be interesting to compare our observations as our driving distance is similar.

I picked up an average of 5 to 10 yards with the ball off the tee. It's a drop and stop ball with the irons. It has a surprisingly soft feel off the wedges and putter. I just ordered the new Callaway Razr Fit driver and as soon as I get it dialed in, I'm expecting another 5 or 10. I've never been a long hitter but I'm approaching 250 on average and 285 on a bomb. I never knew how much a good drive set up the entire hole. I was brought up under that, "drive for show and putt for dough" philosophy. Well let me tell you, taking 3 or 4 clubs shorter into the green has made a HUGE difference. You'd think I'd know all this for as long as I've been golfing huh???
