Phil's catching grief because he's playing with a club that's 20-years-old??? I call that bad-@$$ old-school style! I hope he breaks out the persimmon woods next tournament and outdrives Sally McCarron.

I agree that he shouldn't be called a cheater since he is clearly playing within the rules. I also agree that he not aligned with the spirit of the rules. He should adopt the new equipment.

Hope he wins since he's a favorite of mine, I have him in pick 4, and to piss the people offwho call him cheating!

This situation has even gotten the commentators on both sides.I heard a very interesting comment by someone on the golf channel last night who said it is not the job of the players to interpret the intent of a rule but to simply play by the rules which Phil is doing.

The other commentator agreed that no one should use the word "cheater" since he is following the rules but he went on to say that golfers who play a sport where they call foul on themselves will surely come around to uphold the spirit of the rules and all use the "same" equipment.

OK....not a cheater but...how can we say...club maximizer with a technical court ruling. I think he should remove the doubt and not play with the old legal ping, which I think if it were made the same way today would be illegal.
