This is the golf painting that I commissioned to celebrate one of the most famous golf matches of history. A 144 hole match play event over several courses in 1870 pitting Old Tom Morris (4 time Open Champion) against his lifelong rival WIllie Park, Senior (4 time Open Champion).

The match was 138 holes in with Park being 1 up when Old Tom Morris walked off the green and into the pub (Mrs. Formans) refusing to come out. Old Tom was upset about spectators repeatedly "injuring" the position of his ball. In other words (before the times of ropes) fans were running out after Old Tom's drives and kicking his ball into the weeds.

look at some of the people today, they run up to the ball and you know if they could get away with it they would pick it up and run.

I like the story as much as the painting. Great bit of history.

great piece of art work...are you going to have limited edition prints made? Might be a way to finance that golf purchase you were talking about...
