Wow Tiger Duval... i mean Woods has dropped to 20th in the world rankings. Wonder how far he will drop.

If he doesn't win again by mid November (not likely) which was when he last won a tournament 2 years ago amazingly, all his wins in the World Golf Ranking will be out of consideration and the only things that'd help would be the 2010 Masters, US Open, and this year's Masters. Just guessing but I would venture to say that'd put him out of the Top 50 by the Torrey Pines event in January, which might very well be the next time we see him.

Tiger is probably the one golfer to whom WGR does not matter. He has excemptions into all the majors for a while yet (which is all he cares about) and he would get an almost instantaneous sponsor's exemption into any tournament he wanted to enter.

I'm not real big on the WGR, yeah it worked great when Tiger was #1 because his perfomances so obviously matched the ranking. The rankings lately though hae failed the eyeball test, I've never been able to say "yeah Westwood,Kaymer or Donald look like the best in the world right now" if McIlroy was ranked #1 I'd have no problem with that as he at least looks the part of the best plyer in the world. I don't think the WGR puts enough emphasis on winning, Westwood and Donald have only won a couple of times and neither has a major yet they both have held the #1 ranking mostly by finishing high in tournaments. Don't get me wrong consistently playing well deserves kudos, but not a "best in the world" mantle.

I agree with Luke. The number 1 and 2 players "in the world" missed the cut at the Open Championship.
