I think it is bit "gimmicky". Some of the fairways and greens don't reward the golfer for a well hit shot. I don't like it. And not just because it looks like crap on TV.

I love it. Links golf meets American golf. It's also a visually stunning course.

The course is still novel so it is interesting but seems to be terrible routing for a major. I was watching the feature group on webcast and there was minimum 15 minutes waits on every shot. Some were closer to 30 minutes.
Fox coverage has also been atrocious. They have no idea how to present a golf tournament. |

It's a 21st century links course. I like what I have seen.

I am at work now and haven't watched the afternoon portion but someone said they lost the HD feed?? And Joe Buck is horrible at golf. |

Course does not deserve to host a major tournament. Fox coverage fits well with the course. Atrocious at best. Just walking on the course has to be depressing. If you like pretty sand go to the beach. I can say I wouldn't pay a cart fee only to play this dump, and the locals are shelling out $200. Wow, the PGA tanked on this one.

It's not them either. They haven't been getting their normal rain and with the entire course being built on sand, it dries out really fast so things are burning and getting fried. |

USGA picked course built in a gravel pit and Fox as its coverage. I'd say it's on them. Weather is weather. Have to be prepared for it. Especially after Hazeltine years back. |

Don't get me wrong. I think it's a unique course and the story behind it and how it got the US Open adds some novelty. But after watching 10 hours of coverage, I just don't think it looks like a venue for a US Open.
I hope it does hold up since I don't want the story to be all about the course. |

I don't think it looks like a US Open course either. It sure doesn't look fan friendly for the ones that are there. |

I don't know about the HD feed but they lost the digital score board so there were no live scores scrolling on the screen. The TV broadcast also didn't know anybody's score so they couldn't build the graphics for when they showed a player live on screen. |

Should this be a US Open course? I don't know, I'll decide on Sunday. 1 day isn't enough for me to decide. Those of you that say this is a dump or a goat track? Shame on you. Look at the reviews of this place and ask those who have actually seen it in person if it's a goat track: http://www.yelp.com/biz/chambe..
It's the course's first time hosting an Open and the region's first time hosting one. You think there are going to be mistakes? Of course there are. Those of you criticizing this place need to get off your high horse and enjoy the golf at a place somewhere different. |
