You ever have a feeling that you are going to have a banner year in golf? Nothing you can put your fingers on and rounds of late show some weakness in a couple area's, but you just feel like you are hitting the ball better than ever and very close to doing better than you ever have? I have had that feeling for the last month although my putting has been terrible of late. The rest of my game is good and I know I will get my putting in order. I am getting more fairways and greens in regulation than I ever have and my approach shots are much closer to the pin than ever. Or am I just dreaming or getting senile?

Thus far I only get the other kind of feeling.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been there and you will find success. Right now I am in the same situation as you. Putting is holding me back, but ball striking and accuracy is as good as ever. I can't wait till I have a good putting day. Today I shot 4 over par, and had 5 3 putts. And missed 6 putts inside 6 feet. I think I counted 35 putts for today's round. I know I could have shot in the upper 60's had I made a few putts. It will happen soon enough. Hang in there.

I know exactly what you mean. Went back to basics at the beginning of winter in my garage and lots of gym trips and if my last couple range sessions have anything to tell how this year'll go, I'll be seeing a lot more fairways (and farther down them) and GIRs. Actually took the time to bring a notebook to help dial in wedges so those 3rd shots from par 5s should actually yield some birdie opportunities...needless to say, I'm pretty excited to see what the start of the season (next week) will bring.

I have the feeling that I'll be able to start thinking about playing golf again in another month or so ....

I had a feeling yesterday that I am having trouble describing. On a par 5 I lost my tee shot, hit 3 off the tee, 4 from the fairway and onto the green, and one in the cup to save par. I did not feel relief for saving par, only emptiness for not getting the eagle.

Two quotes seem pertinent to this topic.

“It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.” - Paul (Bear) Bryant

“Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.” - Marv Levy

And those are the feelings that keep you coming back ....

Being the optimist that I am, I have that feeling every year. The last couple of years, it hasn't happened like it did the first few years I played. Will this be the one? With a new swing, I sure hope so.
