Although we have seen many posts regarding personal pet peves on the course, yesterday reminded me of one I haven't heard mentioned. Foot draggers on the greens! Everytime we walked on the green, the group ahead of us must have had a person who would not pick up his feet while on the greens and scarred every green. We had to basically "repair" as best we could the areas especially around the hole where the grass was 'raked' - it really made me mad! The worst part, no marshal worked to advise them of this and the damage it inflicted on everyone else that day, not to mention the putts that were missed because of the damage. Has anyone experience that, and did it affect your round?

Wow, dont think I've ever seen or experienced this. It would be a major annoyance for sure. Mine is the people who fling their club(s) onto the green or slam the flag stick down into the ground. But my biggest peeve by far.... I live on the fairway of my local course which is lined with houses on all holes. What really grieves me are all the kids, and sometimes parents, that think its okay to use the fairway, and oh by the way, the greens also, as extensions of their back yard. I've seen football games, all manner of "kid" games, fireworks shows, even picnicking out there. All about the time the sun starts to go down and no more golfers are coming through. Sometimes, kids, especially in summer time, will go out and play in the sprinkler systems on the fairway and on the green. Gives me the shudders, especially if I have a tee time the next day on the course. Oh by the way, this is a public course so none of us homeowners pay special association fees to the golf course to maintain it. So in my opinion these people are just downright rude about tearing up the course with no excuse that they pay for it with their dues.

I was guilty of foot-dragging when I started playing and was totally unaware of it. This is something that has to be pointed out, as I doubt anyone does it on purpose. I was playing with a group and all of a sudden one of them loudly describes how a few years ago he played with a foot-dragger. I stood there perplexed as to why such a random anecdote was being told. Then it hit me...that anecdote was his cordial way of hinting to me that I was guilty of the crime. Point taken.

I hate this, this is probably my biggest complaint on a golf course, the group I play with does it all of time, they also tend to forget and to walk on everyone's line, I have already told them a bunch of times and made it so that they realized that it is really poor etiquette to do so, a few of them have already made big strides and they don do it anymore, some of them just don't car so I do not play withat group anymore, and I always tee off on the first group, so I do not have to deal with the green scars.

I confess that a few weeks ago I gave an opponent a 6-inch "gimme" putt and jokingly tried to gently kick the ball back to them. Of course, like an idiot I caught the ground first with my softspikes and left a graze on the green right next to the hole.

Needless to say I felt terrible and spent about a minute trying to repair the damage! I won't be trying that move again. :-O
