I have this bucket list of playing in all 48 states. This means flying with my clubs. So what travel bag would you recommend. I have looked at both hard and soft bags. And though I like many of the soft bag features I see advantages to having a hard case. Would love to hear some ideas on this.

You are NUTS if you trust airline monkeys with a soft bag. You might as well scatter your clubs on a highway and wait for semis to run over them. Get a hard case.

I travel quite a bit with my clubs and I use an SKB hard case. Your clubs will take a beating in a soft case.

SKB is the way to go. Added advantage is that you can stuff extra things in the if baggage weight is a problem. Plus, when you consider that if the SKB case ever does get damaged, they'll work with you in repairs while you're traveling, it becomes a no-brainer (IMHO)

Also, most airlines will not refund $$$ for damage to soft cases only hard cases.

Hard Case. It takes the licking and not the clubs.

The last time I counted I think I had played 38 states. I like the Club Glove soft, but well padded golf bags.

The most important thing for me was to choose a very bright color. I went with red. 90% of those bags are black, so when I see a red golf bag come off that belt there is no mistaking that its mine. NO BODY STEALS MY CLUBS!!!

I have traveled quite a bit and have the Club Glove travel bag. It is soft but very padded and have never had anything happen to my clubs at all. And it is pretty light with the bag in it so I can carry it through the airport and stuff and not feel like I am hauling a car around like I did when I rented a hard case. I understand why people would like the hard case but to each his own. :)

Mine is bright red too! Never lost clubs with a bag that stands out.

I have the Ogio Straight Jacket Soft Travel Cover with a Stiff Arm. I usually add more padding and have never had a problem. I like the fact when I am done traveling, the bag folds up small and can be stored easily. Allot depends on the airline also. I have sat over the baggage area and watched as the bags were loaded, I dont know if all of them do the same, but the golf bags were loaded last.

Yes the stiff arm is a must. I have that also and love it with the extra padding I put in the bag to make it more secure. The thing about the club glove bag, the tighter and more full it is, the more sturdy it gets. Excellent bag.

I dunno Darryl. Do you really want to go through airports having to admit you have a padded straight jacket?

Ha... that is a good point! I guess if it ever gets lost, it will be interesting explaining what my straight jacket is...
