If your one who will just pound one ball after another, will not lead to much practice to increase your skills. Try to make practice fun by changing clubs after every shot or playing an imaginary round using what the range layout has to offer. If your at the range with a buddy try calling out targets and have a closest to the pin match. Try a chip and putt match if the range has a pratice area..hit the chip shot for then try to make the putt. Not only will this make practice more fun, it will make your pratice more Valuable to take that game to the course.
What do you do to make the range time enjoyable and find ways to take that game to the course? |

When I start to get bored at the range, I start hitting driver at the 100yd. target, then the 150... so on.

Pretending it's the final hole of The Masters and I need to do such and such shot to get the ball in the right spot works well for me.

I think the overall point is to practice with purpose. I always try and have a plan when I go to the practice range. One to three items I want to focus on. Sometimes one of those focuses will last for a season. Others are just for that day.
Chris' point in another thread about the importance of the short game (and the dropped shots it brings) is very true. Here he emphasizes approach shots. If you focus on improving those two aspects of your game good things are sure to follow. |

I think Mark is right.
I always have a purpose when I go to the range. If not, why go? But sometimes it is fun to try to bean the cart guy as he picks up balls.......... |
