I am not using it, but I did hit about 100 balls with it one night in an outdoor demo day at my range. Be advised that in reality, it is more about the shaft than it is about the clubhead. I learned that. They are promoting a higher launch nowdays. so they will try to sell you the 10.5 head. Then they will fit you with different shafts. I did hit it very consistent, but I couldn't tell exactly where the ball was tracking as the lighting wasn't good enough to see the last part of the ball flight. I went the next day to Golf Galaxy and took my R1 and hit both drivers on the same monitor just to compare numbers. My results were that my R1 was about 5 yards longer on average and was significantly tighter in dispersion.
Add to that the cost of the SLDR. $500. I opted to keep my R1.

Ball flight and distance aside, am I the only one who thinks this thing looks like a Cylon raider? I'm a bit old skool about my golf equipment, maybe not persimmon/hickory old skool, but I like a nice clean design and this is about a far away as it gets.

Don't know if I could bring myself to put something like this in my bag...

I am still a advicate that the R9 was the last good driver that TM put out. All of the newer ones are like swinging a brick on the end of a stick. The ball feels dead off of the face and the head is way too heavy. Just my opinion.

I have never owned a TaylorMade driver. My driver is the Titleist 910D3 and it's a very good driver. I also put in a custom shaft a Oban Kioshi Purple xFlex. It's a great shaft.

I will say I am intrigued by this TaylorMade but to knock my current driver out it would have to be 10-15 yards longer and straighter and I doubt that is going to happen.

I bought a 9.5 a couple of months ago and the loft up isn't just hype. ™ has a loft up warranty for folks like me. I count get it high enough and the spin was so low it was just dropping out of the air. I have a 93 ss and went to the 12 deg. Now the ball flight is up and the spin rate is about 2300. Must make sure your fitted for the right shaft

I like it, I put a Aldila Prototype 60 stiff shaft on because I like the feel, control and launch angel I get with it. I have it set for a slight draw and I get about the same distance as my R1 that I love. There are a lot of very good drivers out there and at $400 bucks make sure that you get a chance to really hit em. It's very hard to tell in a simulator other than spin rate, sound, vibration up the shaft,etc..
So make sure the golf shop has a good return policy. I've been partial to Taylormade, but most of the guys that I play with that are bombers (325+) hit older Calaways. Everybody has a favorite brand for whatever reason so keep an open mind when you go try em out. I tried all the top brands, even the Nike Covert but I still stayed with TM SLDR. Then I hit about a thousand balls, 10 buckets or so over the next couple of weeks to make sure that I still liked it. It was after about three days when I changed out the shaft. which is easy to do with the turn of a screw. Hope this helps.
