I'm headed to Vegas w/ the wife toward the end of March (she has a conference, I have a free room and can escape the cold for a few days). Just curious what are some decent courses people have played? I wasn't planning on renting a car, but suppose I could rent one if it came to it.

Anyhow, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciated it.

Cheers

I can't answer that, but I'm SURE I know someone who can. Jay, the floor is yours.

Just give him some time to answer, he might be golfing or on a flight somewhere to play golf or planning his next business/golf trip.

You need to tell me the hotel you are staying in, so I know what part of town you are in. BTW... there are only 2 golf courses on the Strip... Wynn is on the north end (and cost $500 to play) and Bali Hai is on the south end just after Mandalay Bay.

Any other course will require a car rental or a VERY long cab ride, just so you know.

Bears Best but my favorite is Wolf Creek an hour east.

The last time I was in Vegas I really enjoyed two courses, Paiute Wolf and Badlands.

Joe,

You are walking distance to Bali Hai and it is the only golf course on the south end of the strip. It's a VERY high end course with white sand bunkers and a nice layout. The price can be all over the map many times. This time of the year it can run you $279 or you may luck into a deal getting a $150 price in the afternoon. It's part of Walters golf, and a 3-course rotation of Desert Pine and Royal Links. You may want to check GolfNow for a HotDeal and see if you get lucky or just call Walters golf directly and see if they can tie in a good rate with your stay at Mandalay Bay. Without a rental car, Bali Hai is your best option. Until May, the prices for golf in Vegas are still a bit steep now.

If you decide to just get a cheap rental car (Fox Rental car is 2 minutes from your hotel) it's game on! You should go on GolfNow and just find a deal. Usually Paiute is the way to go; any of the 3 courses there is Vegas golf at its finest. Stallion Mountain is close by and they played Big Break Vegas over there, so that's an easy option too. The best "affordable" round of golf south of the Strip is Boulder Creek in Henderson. 10 miles south of where you are staying and only 5 minutes from the Hoover Dam.
