Broke 80 for the first time

I had been knocking on the door as of late but needed to get out of my own way. It finally happened when I finally stopped going on "79 watch" every time I had a good 9. Could not put two good nine's together thinking that way. Didn't total it up Monday till I was in the club house. 77. Didn't even putt well. 10 greens and 10 fairways did it with mediocre putting. Biggest difference was that I never took an absolutely penal swing all day. Took two swings I'd like back and about 6 putts I'd like to re-roll. All and all, met a personal goal to break 80 and get to single digits this year. Now I have to keep it. My short game is leaving plenty of low handing fruit so I'll have to get after that.

Keep working at it. Now that you broke through, it will come easier.

Congrats! That has been my goal too, and it has thus far eluded me. I'm consistently in the 80s this summer, but only once or twice threatened breaking through the barrier. Funny thing is that I feel like I'm waaaaaaaay better now than at the beginning of the season, but the scores haven't come down. I look back at the old scorecards from a couple months ago, and I can't believe I was able to score as well back then- despite so many flaws that I've improved on.

Anyway, I can appreciate the thrill you must feel. It must be satisfying. I see you crossed another milestone too.....

You are now a single digit handicapper! Congrats. Look at you Handicap Trend page.

Breaking 80 is one of my proudest accomplishments. It took me forever to do it, but I shot my best round to date at the time when I did it 2 years ago with a 75. Congrats and as has been said, it should be a lot easier to do now that you've done it.

Congratulations!
Your first time is always memorable. Keep working on that short game. That is where you will gain the most strokes gained and handicap lowered. I am living proof.

Hopefully you've already done this... but save the ball and write the score on it and display it. It is a great trophy to keep and also a great motivator to make you want to replace it with a lower score. Well Done!
