I have been working hard this year to get my handicap down, I started in January with a 13 now I have gotten it down to a 10. I would like to take it to an 8 by Christmas. My question to you, what would you work on to get it down to the 8? The range, short game, putting, or driver?
Thanks for the help.

Short game in general. Everything fron 150 and in because that is where the majority of strokes are lost by most golfers and where they can most easily be saved with the right practice.

Your highest average over par is on par 3's.
AG appears to be right on target (no pun intended).

I notice all your posted scores are over a year old, so it's hard to tell without current data. Based on last year's data, I'd be saying the same thing ArmyGrunt said, but since you've already indicated you've been working on your game and shown some significant improvement, I wouldn't want to assume.

Is there a way you can provide more recent stats, or at least give us a bead on what's changed in the last year?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you can limit yourself to 3 shots every time when you're within 150 yards, it's impossible to not play better. You'd have to try really hard to not score well if you're doing that. Everything else will come along if you do that.

I'm almost more interested to learn how you found this mystery fact out, Mark. I've tried to cheat and Google the answer, but I haven't been able to find anything to help me out. The anticipation is killing me.

Wrong thread dude.

My club has been posting my scores on GHIN. I think you hit the nail on the head, I need to start keeping up with greens in reg, fairways hit, and so on. As they say the proof is in the pudding.

Good for you Davy; its just having a commitment to do it. My goal the past month and a half is to really challenge my game with shots I don't see from "typical" Blue tee boxes. I've been moving back to the tips an all the courses so that my game is really stretched and my long and mid irons come into play more. My handicap has gone up a stroke but it was the plan I anticipated to shoot super low scores before the years end. USGA says to "Tee it Forward" but you got to challenge the game to truly have a low handicap. I played some hard courses this summer and got my butt handed to me. Way to Go Davy for getting out and really applying yourself.

I didn't have any reason to apologize to you. I was apologizing to Davy for confusing him and his readers for an odd post on his forum.

Thanks, it's been a long row to hoe. My dad always said the best thing you can put on your garden to make it grow is your shadow. So I have taken that to the course. Play more golf is the key to better scores. But just going out and banging 100 balls at the range is okay, but I need to see my shadow on the course.
