Yesterday I was playing a par 4 with water 220 yards from tee box. I used my 3 wood and sure enough hit it square and right into the pond. Usually I hit it 200 yards. So I took a drop and hit my 3rd shot to within a foot of the hole, Tapped in and made par. Making boggy was my objective, but making par made me feel like a pro.

Sandies, the hole out from the rough or a bunker for birdie or par, when bogey or double looked probable, canning the 40 foot plus putt--these are just a few joys of the game!
Congrats Robert! |

Congrats Robert! It's always fun to steal a par.
I remember losing a drive OB on a par 5. Hit 3 from the tee. Fortunately there was a strong tailwind, and I got on in two shots. Then I made a 20-footer for par! Par after OB. I'll TAKE IT. |

I remember standing on the tee box at 17 at TPC Sawgrass and put it in the water. Out of frustration, I just drop another one right at that spot in stead of going to the drop area and jarred it on the fly for Par!!! It was really awesome...
Actually, that was Fred Couples. But I'm sure it was awesome for him too. Seriously Robert... Well Done!! Enjoy the feeling. It's why we play and keep grinding it out. |

A good feeling, but it leaves you wondering "What if". On a dogleg left par 4 course I play a creek runs the left side and the fairway crosses it. I hit 3W off the tee and crushed it down the left side. It landed in the fairway and rolled and rolled and rolled into some humps before the cart path, and went left into creek (total dist 265Y). I took a drop by the creek, hit 9 iron 2 feet from the cup, and tapped in for par. This game has a very cruel sense of humor.

Oh, the second ball was the pure definition of "composure" And Cool. Nobody does Cool better than Freddy. Truth! Freddy has been my favorite player for a long time...he obviously cares about winning and tries to play well, but at the same time he has this attitude like "I DON'T GIVE A $%^&." I love that. |

Any par is nice but one where you have to take a drop and a stroke is really nice! WTG.
