I think it probably did. As if it wasn't a touchy topic to begin with. Now it's going to really pick up steam.

Anyone know the total putts for the week for both Cab and Scott? That may add perspective.

Can anyone say, bifurcation? That's a great word to describe this topic. I'm glad the governing bodies are being deliberate on this issue. |

There is no way the PGA Tour will comply with the R&A and USGA if they ban long putters.

Average # of putts that Adam Scott used to total back in 2009... 140! Also... number of Top 10 finishes Adam had before 2011 when he made the switch: 4, and that goes back to his first major played in 2000. Number of Top 10 finishes since 2011: 5, including 2 runner up finishes and a victory. |

Stats Stats Stats
Did Scotts putting stats improve with the long putter? Yes Did he win the Masters by having fewer putts than the field? No Anyone have the average length of first putt for Scott pre and post long putter? Is it just the putter or better approach shots? We must dig deeper into the details. |

If I honestly thought it would help me I would get one. I don't think it would though. I can usually get around a course in 32 putts and that's good enough for me. Im just wild every else. |

The USGA and R&A did. With over 40 years of data they found no evidence of a performance advantage with the long or belly putter. In fact, when they announced their proposed rule change last November they made a big deal of the fact that their reason for doing this was NOT performance based. |
