Will both handicaps be the same? As far is so far with GolfNet my handicap as of now is a 19.8 and the course I'm playing sunday with the slope gives me a handicap of 21 on the course. If I had a GHIN handicap instead of GolfNet would this turn out the same?

after carefull review of your scoring i would say that your handicap would be a 5 if you went the other direction. best to stay with stracka and get more strokes from your buddies..

It will be the same. They use the exact same formula.

My handicap indexes are different.
GolfNet's numbers for some courses are occasionally off. Not always, but sometimes. The difference is never more than 0.4 or thereabouts. |

Cross reference with the USGA slope/rating list on the website. If you are using the numbers from the score card, they are sometimes what's actually "off". Most courses won't print new cards just because their numbers got revised slightly, they just keep using what they have on hand until they run out. |

Both GolfNet and GHIN are licensed by the USGA to compute their formula. (to answer your question: yes, they're exactly the same)
The USGA "owns" the trademarks and copyrights to everything about the handicap index. (slopes, ratings, handicap index, etc.) Only licensed clubs can use any part of their formula. The USGA has been know to legally go after anyone using any part of their formula without their approval. |
