Think the guys that pushed for Rory to be Nike's next big star are looking for a new job yet?

With the bonus that he got for getting Rory to sign I dont think that he cares if he gets fired or not.

If Nike stuck it out with David Duval, they will stand by Rory. What will frost Nike's marketing team is both Rory and Tiger have subpar majors. Don't think it will happen but I would bet the ranch that come time to play the Masters, Nike will launch a new set of commercials with both of their stars.

I think Nike is extremely pleased with landing Rory. What Nike has done in the past 10 years has really been remarkable. They started off with nothing and no market share and then signed Tiger.

Nick Watney
Paul Casey
Carl Petterson
Jhonattan Vegas
Francesco Molinari

The Top 3 are fantastic and you could argue Nick Watney is just below that group. Then you have Vegas and Molinari that are younger up and comers.

Its Schwartzel is really overlooked for a guy who can just go out there and stick it.

Ultimately its about the name recognition and now you essentially have #1 and #2 on the golf importance meter.

It's been just over 2 months since everyone found out Nike had landed Rory. We have not played 1 major in that timeframe. Not saying it'll happen, but if McIlroy wins Augusta next month, you think Nike won't be grinning from ear to ear? GIVE IT TIME!!!!!

Nicklaus said it best yesterday. He played two or three different sets of clubs when he was a pro (can't recall what brands) at the same time. It is nothing for a PRO of Rory's caliber to switch clubs. I don't think he is off his game because of the clubs, he is just in a bit of a slump. So is Tiger. All pro's have slumps during each year. Some last longer than others.

Don't forget Michelle Wie and David Duval.

He walked off a golf course, He QUIT. I have no respect for any one that quits just because things are not going good for them. I think it will take a long time before Rory can get that back. If you were the boss and someone that works for walks out. the next day you welcome them back like nothing happen?

Rory has manned up and admitted he was wrong. Thats good enough for me. If it is his tooth he is not having it fixed until after the US Open...good-bye first two majors of the year!!!

Not a Rory fan, BUT, Rory will be just fine with NIKE and NIKE will be just fine with Rory. The kid is talented without question and the nerd will win his share of tournaments. Just take those NIKE Putters and use them as walking sticks or something.

That's not what you said in your original post. I'm talking about what you first brought up (Nike), you never mentioned at first that he quit. I'm not a fan of it either but it's not like Tiger hasn't done it. (cough last year at Doral cough).

Why do people spend so much time arguing about things that are out of their control? Our opinions about other people don't matter. I prefer to watch things play out and congradulate the winner. Whomever it may be.
