Both Tiger and Rory are falling on their butts. Game has gone South for both guys, Is it the Clubs? or is it them?

As soon as Rory went with Tiger's Clubs, I have seen him only go down hill. Now Tiger will be up one week and then back down. Are they having trouble with the clubs??? Both these guys should make the cut with their eyes closed, Rory may not make the cut line, his 2nd cut this year.

Aren't they both at even par? Isn't par a good score? Maybe not compared to the leaders, but still good. I wouldn't blame it on the clubs. Just imagine for a moment, a fantasy, you are playing the best golf of your life with your new Nike clubs. You hit every fairway. You hit every green. And you two putt every hole. You shoot par. Great round. But the birdie putts just didn't drop this day. Is that the clubs fault or your putting?

Lets see where they stand at the end of the day. Rory is under more pressure then Tiger at the moment.

Rory has gotten into a little trouble on his 2nd round, 3 over so far

Wow just had a chance to look at the PGA Tour website. Rory WD's mid round. Now the question begs to be answered....Now what does he do?

What the heck? Didn't Tiger just win? I think you need to dial back your expectations a bit. Tiger played well in the match play event...didn't record a single bogey and after one round this week he is even par. He started off with two bogies on the tough back nine and recorded two birdies.

Rory on the other hand is no Tiger Woods. The kid has talent but does not have the head. Tiger at his age was winning 1 out of every 4 tournaments he played in and wasn't missing cuts for consecutive years.

I think Rory's story will be as fascinating as the anchor ban. If he continues to struggle would he void his contract with Nike???

Throwing Tiger into this discussion does not make any sense.

It's my fault, I picked both of them in fantasy this week. I swear I could get PGA tour players to pay me NOT to pick them.

Plus One Zillion to this comment. Tiger just won! And as far as the equipment goes, Bubba said it best when he stated that guys change every year for the newest gear from their equipment sponsor. Brand new R1 didn't seem to hurt DJ in winning at Kapalua. The Logo and the expectations that come with it are the bigger issue. Like LL says, it's Rory's head that's getting in the way. I think he would do well to go back to Titleist, but it has nothing to do with the clubs in my opinion.

Tiger not having much problems right now. He has won this year and played well in Match Play.

Rory, even though I have been critical of him in the past, will find a balance and be just fine. What I question is how much affect will all that money NIKE threw at him affect his drive to be very successful in winning tournaments. Does he not try as hard to win? Is winning going to be just as important as before? Should he be playing more tournaments? It remains to be seen. Money can ruin the drive of a young player real quick.

One thing appears to be on Rory's side is that Tiger is palling around with him and probably going to help give him good guidance. It is too early in the season to say either one of these guys is failing. Rory missed what, 4 of 5 cuts in a stretch last year? Nobody counted him out then. He went on to a respectable season and Player of the Year.

It is the 6 inches between his ears and he just has not developed the same confidence that he had with his Titleists yet.

Tiger was the best in the game for years. Tiger did not fall below the cut line even on a bad day, Yes he won a few weeks ago. Why I put Tiger here He is nothing like he was a few years back. His game has gone down hill fast, Yes he can get hot a win now but he is not going to win day after day like he once did.

Besides Rory and Tiger... the biggest fall was Villegas! Here's a guy who came out of the gate strong (and really needed to given he was playing on a Sponsor's exemption) and he just folded today. He went from leading the tourney to scoreboard watching hoping he makes the cut. Sad that he looked so promising 2 years ago and now he's a shell of his former self.

Rory and Tiger will figure it out.
