I just picked up this great game in earnest this (2012) season, and had old clubs and I have been slowly improving the quality of my equipment. I had a friend give me a Titelist 905 driver (lucky me) and I splurged and bought new Ping G15 irons fit to me (+1.5") in June. Next year, though I really need to get some good wedges. My current wedges are cheap and really too short for me. They work fine for chipping and shorter pitches, but anything close to a full swing is a struggle as I feel as if I have to bend over more than is comfortable and so consistent contact is not there. Therefore, i have two questions:
1) What wedges do you use or recommend? and,
2) Is there a way to order ones that fit me, longer shaft and larger grips, without having to buy stock ones and then get them fixed?
I really haven't done any research yet, so I'll let you all do it for me :)

I use Titliest Vokey's, just got them two months ago. I love them. 52 degree with 10 degree's bounce, 56 degree with 12 degrees bounce, and a 60 degree with 8 degrees of bounce. Since getting them my bunker play has improved, my chipping and pitching have improved and approach shots from 110 yards and in are easier to stick where I put them. No matter what wedges you get ( and there are a lot of good ones) be sure you get the right bounce on each one for your game. I think that is almost more critical than loft, lie and length although those are very important as well. I use the 56 to get out of fluffy bunkers and the 60 to get out of tight bunkers. If I were to do it again I would have gone to 8 degrees of bounce on the 52 for tight fairway lies, but the 10 works great so no complaints since most of our fairways in the North West tend to be soft from lots of moisture. My next purchase will be a 46 degree Vokey to replace my old pitching wedge. That will put me in great shape from 125 in. Most of my approach shots are within that range. Yes I have 4 wedges. I dumped my 4 iron, dumped my 3 wood so my bag consists of driver, 2,3,4 hybrid, 5-9 irons the 4 wedges and of course my putter.

Jim, Titleist Vokey wedges are the gold standard and it's been that way for a long time. There are other companies that make fine wedges, but you can't go wrong with the 'gold standard'.

Go to the Titleist website and go through their wedge selection guide. That will help you zero in on your specs for a set of wedges. Then you can use their Golf Shop locator or go to a site like Ebay. Any authorized retailer, brick and morter or online can order your wedges directly from Titleist made to your exact specs.

The most important thing is to get fitted for your wedge distances and gapping. This will first tell you what degree wedges you should looking for. I for instance had have been playing 48*, *52, *60 until i got fitted recently and found i should play 54* instead of 52* and go to 6* bounce on my 60*. You can buy a wedge with many different loft and bounce combos and also get them custom bent to fit your game. Some manufacturers dont make all the options that might fit you so getting off the shelf could mean you are not buying what fits your swing. Being that you are +1.5" already tells me you will need custom fitting. I am a big believer in having clubs custom fit. It ha made a big difference in my game and many others I play with. Custom does not mean expensive. Most shops will fit for free when you buy clubs.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I actually did a little research based on what everyone said, and learned a lot. Probably will end up with a 50, a 54, and a 58, just have to figure out what bounce(s) will work best for my game, and which clubs to buy.
I will definitely try them all out and see what suits my eye and my game!
FYI, Cleveland has a pretty cool wizard online to figure out what you need.

I like to put some extra hosel weight in the wedges.
Ranging from 6 gm to 10 gm. extra weight, lose about 5-10 yards in distance but sure feel like throwing darts at the flag stick.
