So, as most of you can see, I tend to play a lot of Taylor Made products. I play TM R7 TP irons. Love them. But I have been playing TM woods and drivers for so long, I have been hesitant to play anything else. My pro, Doug Castallari has been wanting me to hit his driver. A Titleist 910, 9.5 loft with a stiff Oban Devotion 6 shaft.
Today I took it out for a test spin. OMG!!!!!!! After a few holes to get comfortable with the club, I started bombing it. I hit 8 of 14 fairways. Generally in the 240 to 270 yd range. Good for me, as I don't have a fast swing speed. I actually had the best day of driving the ball ever. And I know that he wont sell it to me. I think I'm hooked. What a great head and shaft combination. Wow.
Anyone know where I can get one.....for cheap, maybe?

When faced with this particular dilemma...I always start with Ebay and Craigslist. I, myself, am currently trying to get a better shaft for my Titleist 909D2 Comp.
I'm not an expert in this sport (as anyone on this site will tell you), but I've gone thru a lot of drivers, and I wouldn't replace my Titleist with anything else but another Titleist.

Nevertheless, you've given great advice. Ebay is an excellent place to start when you know exactly what you are looking for.

If you have Golfsmiths in your area, they often have a lot of good used clubs.

I'd imagine most major golf outlets have used clubs worth looking at.

I have a titleist 910 D2 Driver with a Aldia R.I.P 60 Gram stiff shaft that i can sell you. its similar to the shaft you played but i believe verystrongly my R.I.P shaft is the best shaft they make for this driver.

message me if your interested.. I can ship it to you and take payments over paypal.

This is almost comical 'cause I've been DYING to try this exact combo. An Oban Devotion 6 X in my 910 D3. $289.99 to order it from Titleist here in Canada. It has the lowest advertised launch/spin combo of any shaft they offer, which is what's feeding my craving. I've just never talked to anyone that actually played it and you won't find ANYWHERE that has it for demo (save for the TPI's in Cali. or Mass. but I'm not heading to either any time soon. Tell me more about how it feels, and especially the launch angle and workability.

Do remember this (Oban Devotion 6 X) shaft is designed for the lower swing speed player. if you see yourself getting faster or vis versa then buy accordingly.

So, regarding the launch angle. I have the club set at A1, Basically normal/normal setting. It was defiantly a lower launch angle than my TM Superfast 2.0 9.5 degree with stiff shaft. And it had more roll. But it was the accuracy that amazed me.
I would just step up to the tee, pick out a tree branch or leaf cluster through the fairway, and swing. Little thought, more swing. And it just went that direction. The distance is great, but to have the confidence to swing away and hit the fairway! Well, that is why I want this club in my bag.
And once again, my Pro has refused to sell it. Ugh! He said that it was the shaft that "made" the club for me, not so much the head. I'm looking and I'll let you know when I have found it. Good Luck.

Can you explain this a little more? I've never seen a tip-stiff, low launch shaft that was designed for slower swingers. Generally it's the complete opposite.

Go to Obanshafts.com and read for your self. its "not designed for the tour player high swing speed". hense why no one on tour uses this garbage...
