lets keep all the Tiger/Rory hubub going. here is my take.

1. The fact that people feel the need to keep comparing Rory to him. Nobody compares Tiger to Jack anymore, most concede Tiger is better, he just has one record of Jacks that he is trying to break
2. When both players are "firing on all cylinders" they destroy the competition. When they aren't, Rory misses SEVERAL cuts. Tiger misses an occasional cut. Do you guys realize in the first 10 years of his career Tiger missed a whopping total of 4 cuts? (one of them was a US OPEN, hard to fault him there.)
3. Rory has to be firing on all cylinders to win. Tiger has won MANY a tourney without his best stuff. Tiger just simply has some shots in his arsenal that others don't have. Anyone remember the 185 yard 8 iron from a few years back? incredible.

When they're both playing their best, Tiger is probably better than Rory. I'm a huge Rory fan and think he's going to win 6-9 majors, but those who say he's going to win more than 10 and threaten Jack and Tiger are overreacting and drunk on the McIlroy Kool-Aid. I think McDowell said that Woods is a once in a lifetime player, and McIlroy is a once in a decade or 2 decade player, which is about accurate. My guess is that when it's all said and done, Woods will be easily comparable to Nicklaus, and McIlroy easily comparable to Tom Watson.

Well said Frank. I'd add to it that I also think it's perfectly okay for Rory not to have any great motivator. Clearly he has some motivation, you don't get to be that good at anything without some drive and commitment. I feel in America we make way to much out of being the best at everything. It's okay to not want to be the best, it's okay to be simply good and to be grateful for what you have and I could see Rory being that way. One of the main reasons why I like Tiger the golfer but am indifferent to him as a person is I feel that he is a bit too over the top in his pursuit of that singular goal. While I'm sure he has plenty of good human elements to him, it would be nice to see them once in awhile.

There is no comparison with Jack and Tiger. Jack holds the record for wins, runner ups, top 5's and top 10's. And before we start comparing Rory to Tiger let's see if he can come close to Palmer, Player, or Watson.

Precisely. And as someone else noted in another thread, remember Rory has the same number of majors as Angel Cabrera. No one in the media is sucking his shlong.

Not wins. Major wins yes, but not wins.

At this time both playing at the top of their game Tiger will take him. If both are off a little then I think Rory will take Tiger. Tiger is not the same guy he was a few years ago. To win Tiger needs his best game. Tiger WAS a great short iron player, now he is missing greens for the fairway at 100 yards. Those shots should be inside 5 feet, not 5 feet off the green. If they would play 10 rounds in 10 days same course I would say that Rory wins 6 or 7 of those rounds.

All I can say as to Rory is that if I was in his shoes and missed 3-4 cuts per year but win 2-3 tournaments a year with a major thrown in on occasion, who cares if he doesn't stack up with Tiger Woods as by the time he is finished he will have a dang fine career. As long as the kid keeps a level head and keeps the same attitude, I am all for him.

If 4 of those days happened to fall on a Saturday or Sunday Rory would for sure have 4 rounds in the bag! lol

Unless it was at Augusta where in four tries Rory is 12 over for the 6 weekend days he played. He missed the cut the other time.

True, but 8 of those plus 12 strokes came on 1 Sunday.

I do not know will will be picked as "the better" I like Tiger. When Rory is around a bit longer I may have a different opinion.

Agreed, and even though I am a Tiger fan, that does not mean that I root against Rory (if it's not Ryder Cup; then maybe). With Tiger out of it I was cheering him on last Sunday. But right now I don't think he has the grinding down the way Jack or Tiger did. It's like he's on and watchout, or he's not, with very little in between. I believe he will improve on that.
