Steve Stricker has a chance to defy long odds and win a PGA golf tournament, the John Deere, four consecutive times to tie a historic mark. Only four players on the PGA tour have accomplished this feat- Young Tom Morris, Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, and Tiger Woods. Woods is the only player to achieve this since 1930, and he did it twice. Consider that Stricker had to overcome Paul Goydos' 59 to win in 2010, and he hit a sensational fairway bunker shot on the 72nd hole across a water hazard to claim victory in 2011.

It would be fun to see, but unlikely. Obviously, the course suits him. But Steve hasn't been playing well enough to win for awhile. Since April he's
...missed the cut at the Players ...T50 at the Memorial ...T15 at the U.S. Open ...and last week T22 at the Greenbrier Not saying it couldn't happen, but it's not far from looking for lightening in a bottle. |

Normally I would say yes he has a good chance but like Mark pointed out, his game has not been very good lately.

I think he'll do it. See what kind of dramatics he has in store for us this year. Hahahahaha ... that really doesn't look like Strick at all, does it? But it's pure distilled awesomeness all the same. :) |

whether he's been plying well or not, there's something about the course that suits him. I think it can be done.

Well at 15 under and currently three back it looks like Steve Stricker is making a run at it. Could be an exciting Sunday.

Not to be for Stricker.
But Zack Johnson and Troy Matteson are in a playoff and just BOTH put it into the water on the first playoff hole! |

Looked like Strick might have gotten a little nervous down the stretch. He missed a lot of putts that are usually gimmes for him on the closing 9. But a great dramatic finish for the 2nd year in a row at the Deere. Incredible bunker shot by Zach on playoff hole #2 to take the title. After what Strick did from there last year, it seems like if you want to win that tournament, all you have to do is hit in that bunker on Sunday.
