This is the golfnet app for iphone. I am wondering if anyone knows if they will be adding a stats feature to it. Such as fairways hit and penalties. The app works great, especially the wireless backup. However, I would like to enter more than score and putts.

I do not this app - but would like to know if/when Golf.com will create an app to enable scoring and stat capture while playing - this is just a duh in my opinon.

Is that the fee version? If, so look at GolfCard GPS+ (or GolfCard Classic): it costs $30, but provides all kinds of stats and more. By the way, these apps are not made by GolfNet (Stracka, UShandicap), but by an independent company, which makes them work with the GolfNet sites.

Yes this is the free version with an online sync fee of $2.99. I really don't want to pay the $30 for the GPS+ app when I already pay $30 for stracka. It makes it seem as though they are double dipping with their fees.

I know, but as I explained, GolfCard GPS (or GPS+) is NOT produced by Stracka: they are an independent company and one of the features they provide is to sync rounds with the Stracka (golfnet) system. They also sync with their own servers, and I think that is the $2.99 fee you are talking about... I am not sure. I use the older GolfCard Classic (which I bought for $8 at the time), has no sync fee, plenty of stats and sends my scores to Stracka as well.

Btw, you can/could use GolfCard on its own (which is what I plan on doing when my Stracka subscription runs out, shortly), if you already maintain a real handicap elsewhere, such as at a golf club/course. If you don't have an official handicap anywhere, GolfCard per se does not provide you with one: it uses strokes average instead, in order to not run afoul of the USGA handicap copyright rules.

I use the GoldCard Pro ( now Classic). Use it for all stats and it work flawlessly. The have a new one which is the GPS version of which is $30 and the reviews I've seen are not exactly glowing so I'll stay with my version. I've logged over 500 rounds on it and it is fast and does not detract from what your doing on the course. I can input Fairways R, L, Hit; # of putts and distance of 1st putt; penalty; chips;sand shots. It calculates all your stats from there.

I use the new GPS+ version - it is MUCH improved since its initial (and significantly flawed) release. It now does everything that the "Classic" version did, albeit for more $$ and with some slightly altered functionality that took a little getting used to. WIth the Free version of GC GPS, you can pay a couple bucks to add almost any feature that is included in the paid version, I think. As I understand it, there should be an in-app purchase option to buy the capability of tracking what they call advanced stats (fairways, chips, sand shots, penalties, tee off club/distance). At least, that was the intent of the company when they released it.

If the conversation is about fee based GPS, Golfshot GPS is the best one that I have used. It is a one-time download fee of $29.99, and it tracks everything that you are looking for. It will email you a copy of the scorecard at the completion of the round so you can enter FIR, Putts, Penalties, and so on. I love the fact that it tracks key stats in the app. Great app for those that haven't tried it.

I'm trying to figure this out. I've already paid for GolfCard Pro, which tracks my rounds, has GPS and syncs with USHandicap.com.

Why would I pay another $30 for the same product in GolfCard GPS+?

It looks like they dropped support for the previous version, "it's not actively being developed." (website quote, http://www.senygma.com/GolfCar..).

I really dislike this kind of crap development: taking the same product and rather than improving it,creating a new version and cutting off the old customers. I get that companies need to improve products, but charging again for the product is lousy customer service.
