Ever lost anything valuable on the golf course? Did you get it back? And did you ever find anything valuable one the golf course?
This topic came up in my foursome yesterday when a guy a few groups in front of us came back asking everyone if they had found his wedding ring! Seems he used it as a ball marker on a previous hole and forgot to pick it up! (I don't know how that even happens, but I'm guessing his wife wasn't gonna buy it either!) For me, the worst thing I ever lost was my Ping pitching wedge. I left it on the 9th green at a public course (Memorial Park in Houston) and by the time I remembered it 2 holes later, no one had seen it. (right) My best find was a Tag Heuer watch a couple years ago. It was lying about 10 yards off the fairway in heavy rough. I went in and left my phone number with the proshop and within a half hour some guy called me from Chicago and said he lost it on a golf trip a week earlier. He described it. I mailed it back to him. He was so happy (it was an anniversary present from his wife) that he sent me $100 as a thank you. Definitely not necessary but it paid for my golf that day! |

Lost my Loudmouth golf towel which has left me forever. Have found a few clubs left on a hole, but nothing as significant as a wedding ring.

I have found many clubs, head covers, cell phones, and range finders. Everything I have found (except maybe golf balls) I returned to their owners or the club house. I lost a head cover for a Bobby Jones wedge that was never returned to me. I also lost the magnetic head cover for my putter that wasn't returned.

Forgot my 9-iron once ... never got it back. Found clubs and headcovers ... returned every one of them to its owner or the clubhouse.

I have found a few clubs, towels and head covers. The coolest thing that I have found is a 1964 silver quarter in the middle of a fairway. My guess is that someone was using it as a ball market and dropped it.

Only thing I ever 'lost' was my favorite sunglasses. Put them on top of the railing at the clubhouse and used the restroom. When I came out they were gone, never to be seen.
Found lots of stuff like others. But the one that took the cake was last year I found SIX irons and wedges left green side. It took us 3 holes to catch up with the guy who owned them and he hadn't noticed. How do you leave behind six irons and not notice for three holes! |

The post should just say "lost" because 90% of the time it's a gonner. Clubs here and there that have never come back home.

YES! I lost my 60* wedge on #18..................it never was seen again, bought a 3 set wegde set of Cleveland CG 15's and lost the 56* wedge 2 weeks after buying it..............ON #18 AGAIN! It also has never been seen again.
I have found a lazer range finder, several golf towels, several clubs and all were returned to the clubhouse. That range finder I found they have in the clubhouse for nearly $400. I'm thinking one of these days karma is going to come back around and let me hit the lotto or something. Really pisses me off about them wedge's still to this day. Thanks for reminding me. lol |
